About the role
This role supports Plug and Play Japan's expanded startup investment operations. Japan operations launched principal investments in 2019 and established a first domestic fund in 2025. VC newcomers will also be considered.
Core responsibilities
- End-to-end startup investment: sourcing, due diligence, and deal execution
- Investment contract negotiation and execution
- Portfolio company growth support and exit assistance
- Investment thesis development
- Accelerator team collaboration
- Community outreach and key relationship building
Required qualifications
- Advanced business-level Japanese and English
- University degree minimum
- Science / engineering degree background
Preferred qualifications
- 1+ years of VC investment experience
- Large-corporation research / engineering role experience
- University startup or university VC background
- Startup sector expertise
- Account management experience (CVC support)
- Portfolio support / exit experience
Work details
- Location: Plug and Play Japan HQ, Shibuya, Tokyo
- Hours: 8:30–17:30 (1-hour break)
- Hybrid: remote work available, 3 days/week in office
- Indefinite-term contract; 3-month trial period
