Zinc is soon to launch its next Venture Builder, supporting a cohort of ambitious Founders to build mission-driven businesses focusing on financial resilience to turn uncertainty into opportunity. We are looking for an experienced individual with expertise in financial or education innovation (more details below) to work with new ventures through a part-time, paid, senior advisory role.

Notes: We are looking for someone who can contribute a minimum of 3 days per week. While some remote work will be feasible, this will be predominantly based in our London (Euston) HQ and starts in April. We will process applications on a rolling basis.

About Zinc

Zinc runs a 12-month Venture Builder that backs cohorts of mission-driven founders, pre-team and pre-idea, to build brand new commercial and scalable businesses. Each Venture Builder has a specific mission it focuses on, and our next mission is to transform people’s financial resilience and turn uncertainty into opportunity. Since 2017, Zinc has launched 5 missions and backed close to 300 individual founders, who have built >60 ventures.

Our Financial Resilience Mission

Our fifth venture builder begins in April 2023 and our Founders will create brand-new commercial ventures to build products for the financially fragile, especially those born in the 1970s and 1980s. You can read our manifesto for this mission here.

Financial security for any individual or household is based on three dimensions:

  1. the ability to earn a good income;
  2. managing money effectively;
  3. building assets for the future.

Zinc offers up to £250k in funding, programmatic support and a 12-month platform for 70 passionate and talented individuals to co-found and build a commercial business from scratch addressing the following opportunity areas:

  • Income levels
  • Inequality
  • Asset acquisition
  • Financial insecurity
  • Education & employment

About this role

We are looking for an experienced individual with expertise in one or more of the areas above, with a bias to action and a passion for commercial innovation. Ideal candidates will have some breadth of experience across the oportunity areas, and some experience working in/with large businesses and/or startups. We are open to people coming from finance, academia, policy, consulting or other sectors.

The senior advisor will, along with others in our team, work collaboratively with Founders as they explore problems and start building new solutions. They will contribute to:

  • Supporting the cohort of Founders through hands-on work, strategic advice and connections
  • Growing and activating our ecosystem of funders, corporates and other partners
