Senior investor relations leadership role

About Play Ventures

Play Ventures is a global early stage venture capital firm with roots in gaming. We invest at the intersection of gaming, consumer apps, B2B SaaS and AI technology, with a current focus on mobile gaming, consumer AI entertainment and applied AI B2B companies. Play Ventures manages US$577 million in assets under management, based on NAV. Our global team partners with founders from pre-seed to Series A and brings deep expertise in user acquisition, monetisation, distribution and growth.

The Role

We are looking for a senior investor relations professional to build and lead a dedicated capital formation function at Play Ventures. This role reports to the Founding Partners and General Partners of the firm. You will own the fundraising process from institutional investor targeting and relationship development through diligence, closing and long-term LP stewardship. Working closely with our investment, finance, operations and compliance teams, you will bring structure, pace and accountability to how we raise capital and manage our global LP relationships.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines a successful fundraising track record with strong judgement, disciplined execution and the credibility to engage senior institutional investors. You will also represent Play Ventures in the market and help sharpen our fundraising strategy through direct LP feedback and market intelligence.

You Will
  • Lead capital raising: Develop and execute fundraising plans across new and existing funds, including LP segmentation, target prioritisation, outreach strategy, roadshows, meeting preparation, follow up and conversion through closing.
  • Build a disciplined LP pipeline: Own the fundraising CRM and maintain a reliable view of prospects, relationship owners, engagement history, next actions, probability, expected commitment and timing. Establish clear routines, reporting and accountability across the team.
  • Originate and deepen LP relationships: Build trusted relationships with institutional investors, family offices, sovereign investors, endowments, foundations, funds of funds and other relevant allocators across key markets.
  • Manage placement agents and advisers: Select, brief and coordinate tier one placement agents and other fundraising advisers. Set clear coverage expectations, align messaging, monitor activity and evaluate performance.
  • Own fundraising materials and diligence: Lead the development and maintenance of pitch decks, fund narratives, track record materials, due diligence questionnaires, data rooms and responses to investor questions, ensuring information is accurate, consistent and compelling.
  • Lead LP communications and stewardship: Coordinate regular investor updates, quarterly communications, annual meetings and responses to LP enquiries. Work with finance and operations to translate portfolio and fund information into clear, timely communications.
  • Take charge of the Annual General Meeting: Own the planning and delivery of the AGM from end to end, including the agenda, investor communications, presentation content, speaker coordination, portfolio participation, logistics and follow up.
  • Create high quality engagement programmes: Design and host curated quarterly LP and prospective investor roundtables, including informal tea sessions, portfolio showcases and market discussions that deepen relationships and keep future investors engaged between fundraising cycles.
  • Bring market intelligence into strategy: Track allocator priorities, peer fundraising activity and feedback from the market. Provide practical recommendations on positioning, fundraising timing, LP coverage and future fund strategy.
  • Build the function: Create scalable processes, playbooks, communication calendars and performance measures, and help shape the team and systems required as the capital formation function grows.
What Success Looks Like
  • A qualified, well prioritised LP pipeline with clear ownership and consistent follow through.
  • Fundraising processes that move efficiently from first contact through diligence and closing.
  • Strong re engagement and re up momentum among existing LPs, alongside a growing network of new institutional relationships.
  • Accurate, responsive and high quality investor communications that reinforce long term trust in Play Ventures.
  • Convert new LP relationships into fund commitments. The primary measure of success in this role is the ability to originate and develop prospective investors who ultimately commit capital to Play Ventures funds. Fundraising processes, communications and relationship management should consistently advance that outcome.
You Need
  • Approximately 7 to 10 or more years of relevant experience in investor relations, capital formation, private markets fundraising, a leading placement agent or a closely related role.
  • A demonstrated track record of successfully raising private capital and progressing LP relationships from origination through commitment.
  • An established network among institutional allocators and the ability to build credible relationships with senior investment professionals across regions.
  • Strong knowledge of venture capital or private equity fund structures, fundraising processes and key performance measures, including IRR, TVPI, DPI and portfolio construction concepts.
  • Experience working effectively with placement agents, legal counsel, fund administrators and internal finance, operations and compliance teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment information into clear and persuasive investor materials.
  • Strong CRM discipline and a data driven approach to pipeline management, forecasting and prioritisation.
  • Commercial judgement, discretion and attention to detail when handling confidential investor and fund information.
  • A self directed and entrepreneurial working style, with the ability to build a function while remaining hands on in day to day execution.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for LP meetings, conferences and fundraising activity as required.
Helpful Experience
  • Fundraising for venture capital, technology, gaming, consumer AI or other specialist private market strategies.
  • Building an investor relations or capital formation capability from the ground up.
  • Using platforms such as Salesforce, DealCloud, Dynamo, Affinity or comparable CRM and investor reporting tools.
