Role: Vice President of Investor Relations
Location: Remote, although major US city highly preferred.
About Northgate
Northgate Capital is a multi-billion AUM venture investment firm founded in 2000 that gives institutional and private investors access to venture capital through several complementary strategies:
- Premier Venture Fund of Funds: a concentrated portfolio of commitments to top-tier, access-constrained venture managers.
- Growth Strategy: direct and secondary investments in high-growth technology companies.
- Late-Stage Strategy: direct and secondary investments in later-stage, pre-exit technology companies.
Our investors include public pensions, endowments, foundations, family offices, RIAs, consultants, and high-net-worth individuals in the U.S. and abroad. Northgate is an SEC registered investment advisor.
Role Summary
We are seeking a Vice President of Investor Relations to strengthen and grow our investor base. This person will be a senior member of the IR team and will work closely with Northgate's partners, investment teams, and finance and operations. The role covers both new capital formation and servicing existing LPs across all Northgate strategies.
This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership and the full investment process. It is well suited to someone who is both a relationship builder and a disciplined operator.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Formation
- Support and help lead fundraising for Northgate's fund-of-funds, growth, and late-stage vehicles, as well as SPVs and co-investment opportunities.
- Source, qualify, and develop relationships with institutional investors, family offices, RIAs, wealth platforms, consultants, and HNW investors.
- Run LP pipeline strategy: target lists, outreach cadence, meeting preparation, follow-up, and progress through closing.
- Represent Northgate in introductory and ongoing LP meetings, conferences, and industry events.
- Drive LP re-ups and cross-selling across strategies.
Investor Relations & LP Servicing
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for existing LPs, responding to inquiries and ad hoc requests accurately and promptly.
- Own or co-own the quarterly and annual LP communication cycle, including LP letters, performance summaries, and portfolio commentary.
- Turn portfolio data (TVPI, DPI, IRR, NAV, deployment pace, underlying manager and company performance) into clear investor narratives.
- Plan and deliver the Annual Meeting, LPAC materials, investor webinars, and update calls.
Materials, Diligence & Operations
- Develop and maintain pitch books, PPMs, fact sheets, one-pagers, and strategy-specific marketing materials.
- Lead DDQ, RFP, and consultant database responses, and keep data rooms current and audit-ready.
- Coordinate investor onboarding, subscription documents, and KYC/AML with legal, fund administration, and operations.
- Partner with finance on capital calls, distributions, and investor statements.
- Own the CRM and investor database. Improve IR processes, templates, and reporting infrastructure.
Strategy & Market Intelligence
- Track LP allocation trends, competitor funds, and developments in the venture, growth, and secondaries markets.
- Contribute ideas on product positioning, new vehicles, and investor segments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. MBA or CFA a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in investor relations, capital formation, business development, or client service. This should be at a venture, growth equity, private equity, fund-of-funds, secondaries firm, placement agent, or alternative asset manager.
- A proven record of raising capital and managing LP relationships, with established relationships across U.S. institutional and private wealth channels.
- Strong understanding of private fund structures, LP economics, and venture performance metrics. Familiarity with how LPs evaluate fund-of-funds, venture, growth and secondaries strategies is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex strategies simply and persuasively.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, and comfortable owning both strategy and execution in a lean team.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Affinity, DealCloud, Salesforce, Altvia).
- Willingness to travel for investor meetings and conferences.
The Ideal Candidate
- Combines a genuine "hunter" mentality with long-term relationship stewardship.
- Is naturally curious about technology and venture investing.
- Builds trust quickly with sophisticated investors and internal teams.
- Is a self-starter who takes full ownership, no task too small, and brings ideas, not just execution.
- Upholds the highest standards of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Is comfortable using AI and modern tools to work more effectively.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience
- Performance-based annual bonus and potential for carried interest participation
