The team's investment approach spans internal innovations, external company investments, and new company creation, targeting emerging technologies and solutions aligned with Northwell's mission and critical clinical and operational challenges.
The role
The Director, Ventures will direct, plan, and organize Ventures operations and staff, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. The role develops standards, policies, and procedures to optimize operations across venture activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate a short-term strategic vision for venture operations.
- Implement strategic policies for selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
- Oversee identification and development of strategic investment areas based on industry trends and health system goals.
- Evaluate strategic partnerships, business relationships, and equity investments.
- Direct multiple new business projects and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor portfolio company relationships and support commercialization pathways and growth.
- Prepare investment briefs and committee materials.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate startup formation, spin-outs, and joint ventures.
- Manage and evaluate direct reports and oversee indirect reports.
- Ensure venture activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, tax laws, and Northwell's Corporate Compliance Program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related experience required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- 8-12 years of related experience required.
- 7+ years of leadership or management experience.
