Bethnal Green Ventures
Bethnal Green Ventures is a UK early-stage VC firm and tech-for-good accelerator investing £60,000 for 7% equity in technology startups addressing social and environmental challenges, with follow-on funding and founder support.
Bethnal Green Ventures is a UK-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2012 that invests in technology businesses designed to generate positive social and environmental impact. Its origins lie in Social Innovation Camps, an initiative launched in 2008 that led to the firm's establishment and to one of Europe's first tech-for-good accelerators. The firm operates across the UK and Europe, with portfolio activity spanning climate change, inequality, health and wider social and environmental outcomes.
Every portfolio company enters through the Tech for Good Programme, under which BGV invests £60,000 for 7% equity alongside a six-week programme of intensive learning and a further six weeks of tailored coaching. Follow-on capital is available from pre-seed through later stages, extending the relationship beyond the initial accelerator cohort. The firm reports having invested in 197 ventures, which it states have positively affected more than 21 million lives.
Support continues after the programme through a founder community of more than 200 entrepreneurs and a mentor network of over 50 practitioners, alongside events, curated resources and specialist input on fundraising, impact, ESG and hiring. The model combines structured early-stage investment with sustained post-investment programming, an approach that suits candidates interested in venture capital roles where portfolio operations, founder support and impact measurement sit alongside capital allocation.
Thematic focus areas include technology for good, social innovation, impact investing and ESG. The firm states an explicit goal of improving lives at scale and of backing ambitious and diverse founders.
