We are sustainable venture builders working with UK start-ups and early-stage companies. We provide capital alongside practical support, drawing on our experience, insight and networks to help founders develop products, build teams, shape go-to-market strategies and grow their businesses. Our aim is to back ideas with the potential to make a difference in their markets and in society.

Sustainability is part of how we assess and support companies, not an optional extra: our website says our capital is contingent on companies sharing that commitment. We invest across sectors and have backed businesses in areas including subsea robotics, renewable-energy software, climate risk, laundry services, food and drink, and technology. Our work includes mentoring founders and helping portfolio companies build strong foundations for growth. Vala describes its investment focus as UK-based and early-stage, from seed stage through Series A. The company currently says its capital is fully committed and it is not making investments in new opportunities.
