Playground has assembled a world-class team of domain experts within venture investing, engineering, design, and startup operations, most of whom operate out of our fully-equipped, 80k square-foot studio, where the fund also hosts a number of its portfolio companies.

Playground seeks to invest in revolutionary companies whose cutting-edge products and services will underpin the next wave of economic and human development. Areas of active investment include artificial intelligence, decarbonization, quantum computing, engineered biology, cybersecurity, aerospace, food & ag science, robotics, and other frontier technology sectors.

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team and help support Playground Global’s marketing & event initiatives. You will be responsible for leading and managing a variety of projects across marketing & investor relations projects, including developing and executing conference strategies, managing external & internal content initiatives, and supporting Playground hosted events. This role will interact across the wider Playground team and support all of Playground’s investment sectors (Next-Gen Compute, Engineered Biology, AI & Automation, Logistics, Infrastructure and Decarbonization). Your work will help deliver memorable and engaging experiences that support deal sourcing and connectivity to later-stage venture capital firms for the benefit of our founders and their broader network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects across marketing, investor relations, and other operational teams, working in collaboration.
  • Develop a conference strategy in collaboration with the Investment Team, Investor Relations, and Marketing to maximize impact. Define a strategic vision, appropriate KPIs, and budget.
  • Project manage Playground’s internal content initiatives, coordinating between teams and developing a content delivery schedule.
  • Support event engagements: thematic happy hours, targeted investor events, and investor summit.
  • Support the buildout of a CRM to drive effective distribution lists.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a marketing or investor relations role with demonstrable results with deep tech and/or venture capital ecosystem, such as the execution of funding announcements, hosting and supporting events, and conference and event programming.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to manage up and across the organization, solid organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience and familiarity with event production and CRM tools such as Zoom Webinar, Salesforce, Marketo, Qualtrics, Gatsby, and other similar tools.

This role is located in Palo Alto, California, and is not a remote role. The job requires some travel and longer on-site hours associated with events.

The hourly rate range is $65/hour to $85/hour. This range represents the low and high end of this California-based position's anticipated base salary range. The base salary will depend on numerous factors such as experience, knowledge, and skills.
