“Spero” is Latin for hope. We help founders build a hopeful future. We’re a team of former startup founders, operators, and investors from landmark companies including eBay and Tesla. We invest in determined founders building mission-driven technology companies in three focus areas: wellbeing; sustainability; learning, work, and play. We prefer to lead or co-lead a $3-$10M round (late seed or Series A). Our typical check is $2-$4M, and we reserve capital for follow-on. We are conviction-based investors who play the long game. Grok invests in technology enabled companies and projects that will decarbonise our planet. Lowering emissions, removing carbon, generating awesome returns - that’s our focus. We back teams in markets we understand - predominantly Australia and New Zealand, Singapore, North America, and Europe. At our core, we believe: Technology is the biggest lever we have to decarbonise the economy. Seeding and scaling climate tech into climate infrastructure is going to require trillions of dollars in private capital. We consider this the biggest economic opportunity of our lifetime. The funding requirements of climate tech and infrastructure are unique – the capital and capability needs to be flexible, focused and fit-for-purpose. SOLVING THE CLIMATE CAPITAL STACK: There is a major funding gap in climate tech. We solve this by investing equity early from our Venture team and when companies hit defined milestones our Infrastructure team can provide flexible forms of non-dilutive financing. We’ve been providing flexible funding since 2016. Our team brings specialist experience building technology businesses, investing across venture, infrastructure and debt, as well as owning and operating renewable infrastructure. We deploy this expertise to help our portfolio companies scale.

AI acceleration of scientific innovation and commercialization. Life Extension ventures invests in the two largest sectors in the world, People and Planet, where AI suddenly matters. Novel commercialization through marketplaces, networks, Web3, personalizations, payments, APIs, new go-to-markets and operations. Software, AI, and the power of the Internet will accelerate the adoption and monetization of science breakthroughs on human and planetary life. New infrastructure like SaaS, data platforms, OSs, LLMs, collaboration tools, storage, simulations, GenAI, visualization tools, security, workflow automation, Web3 and DAOs, or design tools to accelerate innovations. We target the infrastructure that accelerates the innovations. Software and AI are reinventing many industries bringing benefits to society and creating new category defining multibillion dollar companies; and now is the turn of climate, biology and health.
