GM Ventures invests in start-ups that share General Motors’ vision of a world of zero emissions, zero crashes and zero congestion. We are focused on key technologies that can be implemented in GM’s vehicles, manufacturing facilities and operating businesses. Our investment approach is unique. We combine venture investing with the active support of General Motors’ technical and business resources to improve, expand and scale technology. This provides our portfolio companies with additional capabilities to commercialize their innovation in the global transportation industry and have GM as a potential customer. Since 2010, we’ve built strong relationships with start-up companies and other venture capital firms who share our vision to advance the automotive industry. Our investments have increased General Motors’ technology footprint, including industry-first innovations, and accelerated its strategy to earn customers for life.

Greenhouse gas reduction: We only invest in ventures that have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The impact of our portfolio will be measured and reported frequently. With offices in Europe, Silicon Valley, Boston, China and Israel, we are working with Deep-tech companies worldwide. Having our investment sweet spot in early stage we are also looking into later stage companies, as well as seed stage in selected cases. We prefer to syndicate our investments with existing or new investors in the company and can take the lead, co-lead or follow as necessary. Beyond the financial commitment, startups receive access to our vast network and support in commercial collaborations.
