Mela Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm investing in category-defining B2B technology companies across Enterprise Technology, DeepTech, ClimateTech, Robotics, Manufacturing, and Industrial Innovation. Founded by experienced operators and entrepreneurs, we partner with founders solving complex, hard-to-build problems with global ambitions.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Investment Analyst to join our investment team in Bengaluru and work closely with our investment team on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting the next generation of technology companies. This is a full-time role, based out of our Bengaluru office.
The Analyst will be involved across the investment lifecycle: identifying emerging technology trends, sourcing founders, conducting commercial and technical diligence, preparing investment recommendations, and working with portfolio companies post-investment. The role suits curious individuals who enjoy understanding complex technologies, asking first-principles questions, and developing independent investment views.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop deep insights into emerging technology sectors and build investment theses across enterprise software, robotics, AI, industrial automation, advanced manufacturing, climate technologies, semiconductors, and other deep-tech domains.
- Conduct industry landscaping, competitive analysis, and market sizing.
- Identify promising startups through founder networks, accelerators, universities, ecosystem events, and proprietary research, and maintain an active pipeline of investment opportunities.
- Evaluate business models, technology differentiation, product-market fit, competitive positioning, and scalability.
- Conduct customer, expert, and reference calls, and analyse financial models, unit economics, and commercial metrics.
- Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Work with portfolio companies on strategic initiatives, fundraising preparation, market research, and business planning, and track portfolio performance.
- Represent Mela Ventures at conferences, demo days, research institutions, and startup events, and build strong relationships across the founder, investor, and research ecosystem.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of professional experience in venture capital, private equity, consulting, investment banking, product management, technology, or startup roles. Experience in a founder’s office or chief of staff capacity at a scaled-up company is equally relevant.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a reputed institution. An MBA is not required for this role.
- Candidates who have built something will be preferred. Interesting projects, internships, or assignments, whether at college or at work, are a strong signal, including non-coding projects and initiatives taken independently.
- Preference for candidates who have developed depth across three or four sectors rather than broad, surface-level coverage.
- Prior exposure to deep tech is an advantage; otherwise, a demonstrated ability to pick up new technical domains quickly.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear investment insights, and comfort working with financial models, market research, and data analysis.
What We Are Looking For
- Genuinely excited about emerging technologies and innovation, and comfortable going deep into technical subjects and learning independently.
- Highly analytical, structured in thinking, and able to communicate ideas clearly.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive, and willing to take ownership in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.
- Collaborative, open to feedback, and high on integrity and intellectual honesty.
How to Apply
We require your CV and a video of 30 to 60 seconds explaining why you are a good fit for this role. A phone recording is sufficient; we are assessing how you think, not production quality.
Please submit both through the application form. Applications received without the video will not be reviewed. For any questions, write to future@melaventures.in.
