Lever VC is a globally-operating venture capital fund with offices in New York City and Hong Kong. Lever currently manages $150m in assets across two funds and invests globally in early stage companies in the FoodTech and AgTech sectors that improve the sustainability, health and efficiency of the food system.
Lever VC is currently hiring for an investment associate based in the greater Kuala Lumpur area. This is a flexible role that can either be work-from-home or working at a co-working office in KL.
Job Description
As an Investment Associate at Lever VC you will assist with managing new deal flow, conducting early-stage due diligence into startups in the Food, FoodTech and AgTech sectors, conducting industry and company research, and contributing to the general work and deliberations of the investment team. You will also serve as a point person and liaison between Lever VC and the country of Malaysia, helping connect Malaysia-based startups and technologies with the Fund and helping connect valuable food and agriculture technologies from abroad with leading food and agriculture companies in the the country.
Depending on your personal skillset, you may also be tasked with assisting on communications-related tasks for the Fund, including writing, content creation, public and investor reporting, and media engagements.
You'll have smart, experienced colleagues in the United States who will work with and support you. You’ll stay in close touch with them through calls, emails, messages, and periodic in-person meetings and team gatherings.
Through this work you gain hands-on investment experience in the venture capital sector as well as in-depth exposure to leading FoodTech and AgTech startups from around the globe. As Lever VC's team is modest in size, you will be able to wear many hats and gain experience across a variety of work streams.
Qualifications
Investment experience or related experience or educational training (examples could include previous work at a venture capital or private equity firm, previous work at a consulting or financial services firm, completion of an MBA program, or substantial entrepreneurial experience)
Ability to work highly independently, with a very strong work ethic
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
Personal interest in sustainability, FoodTech, and/or AgTech a strong plus
