Role

We are seeking an Associate to join the firm’s Nashville office. The Associate will be part of FCV’s investment team, and the role may result in some domestic travel.

Responsibilities

Sourcing & Performing Due Diligence

  • Learn the FCV investment process from sourcing to closing of the transaction

  • Source relevant and interesting early-stage opportunities that fit FCV’s investment strategy

  • Perform qualitative due diligence, including assessing business models, customer value, competitive landscape, industry precedents and trends, all within transaction timelines

  • Perform quantitative analyses on investment opportunities – such as evaluating long-term financial projections, prospective returns analysis, and broader industry comparables

  • Work with investment team to draft investment process deliverables, such as investment memos, presentations, etc.

  • Support external due diligence discussions

  • Synthesize and communicate key findings to the investment team

  • Develop deal sense and conviction around companies you and the team are evaluating

Support Portfolio Companies

  • Track and manage portfolio financial information and key performance indicators

  • Develop dashboards and reports to monitor portfolio performance

  • Provide analytical support for portfolios

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio discussions

Support Fund Execution and Initiatives

  • Maintain quarterly reporting for investment team, partners, and limited partners

  • Help with quarterly valuations and analysis

  • Assist in CRM maintenance and maximizing database capabilities

  • Support annual meeting initiatives and deliverables

  • Develop dashboards, analysis, and manage information flow on originating activities

Industry Research, Analysis, and Theme Generation

  • Research new market themes/theses that signal opportunities for investment

  • Synthesize market news and changing regulatory policy

  • Identify and find companies to support themes and thesis work

Required Qualifications

  • Desire and passion to work in healthcare innovation and improve health for all

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience that developed a financial, strategic and/or operator mindset

  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and drivers

  • Excellent quantitative modeling skills, understanding of cap tables & venture returns (and a desire to focus and develop skillset)

  • Strong analytical skillset, desire and curiosity to dissect and solve challenges

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple initiatives

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good judgment and relationship-building skills

  • Self-starter, excited to work in small, fast-paced entrepreneurial team

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint), experience with CRMs a plus
