Firebrand

Firebrand is a seed-stage venture capital firm investing $500,000 to $1 million in sector-agnostic startups across underserved US and Canadian ecosystems.

Firebrand is an early-stage venture capital firm that invests primarily at seed stage across the United States and Canada. Its stated focus is on underserved and emerging startup ecosystems outside the conventional venture centres - a geographic strategy that positions the firm to lead or co-invest in rounds where institutional capital is comparatively scarce. Typical check sizes range from $500,000 to $1 million per investment.

The firm takes a sector-agnostic approach. Named portfolio companies span several unrelated verticals: Replica, an urban planning tool; Edlink, an integration platform for education software; Drop Mobility, which supplies e-bike solutions to municipal agencies; and Returnmates, a service handling online retail returns. The pattern is consistent - software and technology businesses addressing operational problems in public agencies, education and commerce.

Firebrand is led by two managing partners, John Fein and Chris Marks. Beyond capital, the firm provides strategic guidance and access to its network, and it participates in seed rounds both as lead investor and as co-investor. Its stated objective is to back teams solving significant problems and to partner with founders building transformative companies.
