Concrete Ventures is a pre-seed venture capital fund founded in 2019 and based in Atlantic Canada. The firm backs founders in the region building what it describes as massively scalable businesses, working with them at the earliest stage and providing ongoing practical support as companies grow. Its investment remit spans a broad set of technical domains, including legal technology, financial technology, AI security, veterinary technology, biomaterials, clean technology, cybersecurity, health technology, industrial technology and education.
Across its portfolio, Concrete Ventures has partnered with 21 companies. Those companies have raised more than $200 million in follow-on capital and created over 400 jobs, according to the firm - figures that indicate a portfolio pattern of early entry followed by institutional backing.
The firm states that it is no longer making new investments and is now focused on supporting its existing portfolio. Its stated approach is grounded in thoughtful relationships and an understanding of the operational challenges founders face at pre-seed, at a stage when Atlantic Canadian companies have limited local funding options compared with larger Canadian markets.
