La Famiglia

About

La Famiglia is a European seed and growth stage venture capital fund investing in technology companies that enable or disrupt large industries. We are backed by a selection of world-leading entrepreneurs from various industries that provide precious early market access, impactful partnerships and deep expertise for our portfolio companies.

More than a regular venture fund, La Famiglia serves as a trusted access platform creating unique relationships between the old and the new world, enabling real differentiated leverage on capital.

As a Famiglia, we are neither economists, nor managers or technologists: we are seekers of hidden newness and disruptive force, positioned at the intersection of those fields.

Frontline

We invest in and support ambitious entrepreneurs to get them where they want to go, whether at early stages with sights on the US market, or at later stages looking to the potential of Europe. Frontline today is a team of 17 people with a growing portfolio of over 80 exceptional companies across Europe and North America, and an expanding, global, investor base. EXPERTS IN EXPANSION Founders see what the world misses. In fast pursuit of opportunity, you make critical decisions with little certainty. We get it, because we’ve been there. Frontline is the venture firm for globally ambitious B2B companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Frontline Seed speeds up ideas at inception across Europe. Frontline X is a growth-stage fund, for fast and frictionless US-Europe expansion. WE'VE LEARNED IT THE HARD WAY As a team of entrepreneurs, we have built many businesses, many ways. And as a venture fund, we’ve helped tens of founders and CEOs cross the pond. We’ve scaled too – with team members in Dublin, London and San Francisco. Today, our team, LPs and advisors represent senior leadership at many of the world’s most successful B2B companies (Think: Segment, Stripe, Looker, Linkedin, Airtable, Google and Workday – to name a few). Collectively, we can add value when founders need it most – at company defining moments. CAPITAL IS CHEAP Look around; the venture market is drowning in noise. Hundreds of funds and millions of blogposts – all claiming to “add value” left and right. We believe that capital is cheap, and we know that value-add is not made equal. Our focus is clear; we back challengers with global ambition, and we dedicate our time to helping them fly higher – faster. Our experience makes us knowledgeable. Our global network makes us unique. Want more detail or first-hand accounts? we are happy to introduce you to our founders. SYMBIOSIS In nature, the best things work together. We see the landscape ahead and can warn you of the risks, while you stay strong and focused on your goals. Indispensable; that’s how we see our relationship.

Korelya Capital

With offices in Paris, London, Seoul and Singapore, our mission is to broaden the horizon of European technology by providing leading start-ups with the capital for growth and access to Asian markets. Our strong ties with many leading Asian corporates, together with our network in Asian tech ecosystems offer our portfolio companies much more than just capital. Founded in 2016 by Fleur Pellerin, former French Minister for Innovation and Digital Economy, Korelya Capital (a Korelya Groupe company) is an investment platform with over EUR 500 million under management. We back the most ambitious founders in their journey to build global technology champions by sharing our passion, experience and market reach. We are thesis-driven investors supporting exceptional founders at every step of their journey We seek out exceptional and talented European founders who put global ambition at the core of their mission and then work relentlessly with them to achieve it. We focus our sourcing on well-defined investment theses and criteria and we are quick to recognise if a business is not for us. Once we partner with a founder, we are highly engaged: we know the challenges of scaling across multiple markets faced by our companies and we leverage our network and expertise to make the journey a success. Advocates of a sustainable tech ecosystem. For decades, sustainable development has steadily grown in public opinion and business and political agendas globally. Organizations large and small are increasingly accountable for their social and environmental footprint. While legal and statutory obligations today almost exclusively concern large corporations, we believe sustainability should be an integral part of corporate agendas at every stage of a company’s journey, for both ethical and economic reasons. We are convinced that companies embracing societal and environmental challenges will drive superior value creation in the long term. Europe has a clear head start and an unmissable opportunity to create the next generation of sustainable global leaders. That is why at Korelya we chose to set ourselves ambitious yet realistic sustainability goals, with an action plan designed to lead by example and promote our strong beliefs amongst our portfolio companies.

RR

Red River West

RRW invests in outstanding European Tech companies. We promote their international take-off by providing significant financial firepower and game changing hands-on support in Europe & the US. Backing EU talents in the US Red River West was created to bring active support to outstanding European Tech Companies that have something unique to bring to the US market and transform them into US and Global successes. Within the team, we all share a track record of building and backing start-ups which became global leaders through EU to US expansion. We see our mission of backing European talents into US and Global successes as of strong impact. Europe is indeed home to a talented, driven pool of highly educated engineers and creative entrepreneurs. But the unfamiliarity with the US market means that too many promising European start-ups do not realize their full potential. US success doesn’t just mean bigger scale and more capital: translating Europe-based talent into US success requires expertise, commitment, and a deep understanding of the different business cultures. Narrow, hands-on portfolio strategy In the way we operate as investors and partners, we fully align with the success of the entrepreneurs we back. We have indeed a narrow portfolio strategy : we invest in only circa 10 companies per fund. It makes it possible for our team to dedicate plenty of time to the success of each entrepreneurs and truly provide game-changing hands-on support on both continents. This approach is really unique in VC and those differentiated foundations have been driving and fuelling our operating and ESG approach since day 1. Real-world impact We see our mission of backing European talents into US and Global successes as of strong impact by design. Europe is indeed home to talented and driven pool of top engineers and creative entrepreneurs, but they too often miss the familiarity needed with the US to scale globally. Additionally, we believe the Tech segments & models we invest in present huge opportunities to serve ESG global concerns, therefore investing in founders that care about their impact is one of our 5 core investment criteria. We have integrated environmental, social and governance best practices in numerous aspects of our own organization, including our proprietary sourcing platform. Bringing support on three ESG pillars Our latest fund RRW II Growth is classified under Article 8 of SFDR regulation, as a financial product that promotes, among other things, environmental or social characteristics. We decided to focus our efforts on three ESG subjects: Ethical Technology People Well-being Carbon Reduction We are convinced that those challenges fully align with our performance as a leading EU to US Tech investor; and this is our differentiated narrow portfolio strategy and operating DNA that allows us to act as dedicated and impactful partners on those three ESG pillars.

Valia Ventures

Valia is an early-stage venture capital firm with offices in New York, San Francisco and London. Fund StrategiesPre-Seed Fund: Investing $50,000 - $250,000 first checks in strong teams at the formation stages of company building. Nothing is too early for this fund - be it pre-revenue, pre-product, or even pre-pitch deck, we’re comfortable making bold early investments in standout teams. Early-Stage Fund: Investing $250,000 - $1,000,000 first checks in Seed and Series A rounds. We reserve follow-on capital, so we’re continuing to back founders as their businesses grow. This fund makes new investments, in addition to follow-on investments from our Pre-Seed Fund. Opportunity Fund: Investing larger checks in mature companies (Series B onwards) and companies that aren’t suited to the traditional venture capital fund model. Through the Opportunity Fund, we also continue to support our breakout portfolio companies from our Pre-Seed and Early-Stage funds when they raise follow-on rounds. Investment ApproachBold: Big ideas don’t scare us - to the contrary, we’re energized by investing early in founders with huge visions. That’s why we start investing at Pre-Seed, Seed, and Series A - and continue to support companies as their ideas shift and grow. Generalist: Tomorrow’s most iconic companies will defy categorization and create sectors of their own - that’s why we stay open-minded in our approach and are getting behind founding teams building at the edge of more than one category. Multi-Stage: We’re investing in our portfolio companies across their lifecycle. Our three sequential funds are designed to make Valia a long-term partner to founders as their funding needs expand. FAQsDo you invest in companies outside of the US? Yes - although the majority of our portfolio is based in the US, we are actively looking at investments in Europe and emerging markets. Great founders exist globally, and we want to work with them regardless of their geography. When is the best time to reach out to you? As early as possible. How long is your investment process? In early-stage rounds, we aim to go from the first meeting to investment decision in two weeks. There are scenarios where we move much faster, but we believe in the importance of diligence as we’re committing to being a long-term partner to our founders. How should I get in touch? We love referrals from those we trust, but you can also reach out to our team directly and know that we do our best to review every opportunity that comes our way.
