Holman Growth Ventures

About

We partner with entrepreneurs as a lead or co-investor to help them build the technology that is driving the future of the automotive sector. Bringing our nearly 100 years of global automotive experience to bear for our portfolio companies, our investment strategy is built around being strategic, supportive, and patient.

If the technology you’re building is auto-related, it’s likely that we have either direct experience or partners in the space. For our portfolio companies, we invest not only our dollars, but provide access to our experience, data, network, and resources.

We want to be a long-term partner to the companies we invest in, and we’re not bound to a fixed timeline to harvest our investments. That means we can help you drive your innovation at the right speed with the confidence that we’re in it for the long-haul.

What kind of companies does Holman Growth Ventures invest in?

We invest in early stage companies (seed – Series B) in the automotive retail, fleet and mobility, and manufacturing and distribution ecosystems.

CO

co-pace

co-pace started in 2017 out of a strategy process to answer how Continental should address the relationship to the startup ecosystems around the world in a structured way. We were not the first (and not the last) to start doing this, but we are proud of ‘how’ we do it. We have had the privilege to work with more than 200 entrepreneurs and thought leaders and to bring more than 20 partnerships off the ground in the past 5 years, generating value for both Continental and the startups. Our industries are going through a massive transformation. We see the changes in the shifting technology landscape as well as the dynamics of the markets (even before the pandemic). And we believe partnerships are how we keep up with the pace of change. For us at co-pace, partnerships between startups and Continental are the true north – we catalyze future products and services out of such partnerships: we jointly execute the product roadmaps innovating both internally and externally, and the outcome is renewed, reinvented, and transformative solutions. We operate in the global ecosystems from Tel Aviv to Singapore, from Berlin to Silicon Valley. It is in these global ecosystems that we find thought leaders such as yourselves – startup founders, serial entrepreneurs, investors, technology strategies and innovators. And we constantly meet new people to enrich each other’s network. This network is very important because it gives insights into all industries with the new perspectives, approaches, and players. We love linking that to Continental’s strategy, problems, and interests. And in this way, we look outwards and thus sharpen our focus inwards. Through these interactions, we anticipate product concepts and create new markets together with the thought leaders of the ecosystems. Our superpower is to be the catalyst that brings Continental and startups together to create what wouldn’t be possible if either worked alone. And we have only just begun! Moreover, Continental’s Corporate Venture Capital arm invests in young technology companies, giving startups direct access to Continental's global mobility and industry expertise.

Scania Ventures

Scania Ventures is set up to help position Scania for the future transport ecosystem. It is identifying and commercializing new businesses based on customer needs and emerging technologies that lie outside the current core. Scania Ventures is sharpening venture building capabilities to build scalable ventures that will become future key businesses and create new profit pools for Scania. Our industry is evolving Innovating is nothing new to us. At Scania we have been doing it for 130 years in our core business of trucks, buses and engines. This is one of the key factors that have made us the world-leading company that we are today. As our industry evolves we also need to explore and develop ideas that lies beyond our core business today, not least regarding areas such as AI, digitalization and autonomous. How Scania is exploring new business areas To drive the shift to a sustainable transport system, we need to find brave and bold partners in the transport ecosystem. We need partners who share our vision and can help further develop and accelerate the adoption of new technologies outside our core capabilities. In this video Gustaf Sundell, Head of Ventures and New Business and Scania's CEO Christian Levin, discuss this topic in depth.
