That is why we created Pelion Green Future. We invest in and support like-minded entrepreneurs, companies and technologies which help tackling the climate crisis at its root cause. For us, this starts with ‘cleaning up’ the energy economy by scaling up existing renewable energy sources while also investing in new technologies that help us generate, store, and use low-carbon electricity globally. Decarbonizing the energy economy means decarbonizing a large share of total emissions. ‘Green energy’ is therefore at the core of our activities. But to drive a large-scale decarbonization, we will need to rethink infrastructure and technological systems more broadly – which is why we also invest in companies focused on different climate technologies that help us achieve net zero. Our conviction is that investing into companies that reduce carbon, combat climate change and facilitate the economies transition to net zero is the opportunity of a lifetime. A number of factors have combined to create the right environment for the world’s transition to a green economy; Government regulation, changing corporate behaviour and consumer activism. The target portfolio of each investor will be 6-8 companies. The fund focuses on post revenue investments into early stage companies. In most cases businesses will already have a product or service in the market and will be making revenue from that product or service. I.e. the capital will be required for scale up. The majority of investments the Fund will make will be post seed and pre Series A. The overall investment size is likely to be between 500,000 GBP and 1000,000 GBP.
