Rise of the Rest

Rise of the Rest is building a top-tier early-stage venture capital fund, investing in entrepreneurs across the United States, in order to deliver top returns for our investors and give more founders, in more communities, the opportunity to build world-changing companies that solve real-world problems. We are generalist investors who commit capital across a broad cross-section of industries into startups based outside of Silicon Valley, New York City, and Boston. Rise of the Rest is a distinct fund at Revolution, the firm founded by former AOL co-founder and CEO, Steve Case. Rise of the Rest currently has $300M under management and is actively investing out of its second $150M fund. APPROACH We recognize that some of the most compelling investment opportunities in the next decade will likely emerge from startups in cities all across the United States. The Rise of the Rest® Seed Fund invests in passionate entrepreneurs that are based outside of Silicon Valley, Boston, and New York City. We work closely with trusted members of our network to source and vet the best seed stage opportunities in cities across the country. That’s why we visit multiple cities a year through our Rise of the Rest® Road Trips, and gather key stakeholders from past tour cities at least once a year during the Rise of the Rest® Summit. TOUR Revolution’s Rise of the Rest® Road Trip with Steve Case is a nationwide effort to work closely with entrepreneurs in emerging startup ecosystems. This is the beginning of a new era for entrepreneurship across the U.S. - high-growth companies can now start and scale anywhere, not just in a few coastal cities. On each bus tour, we visit five cities in five days and invest at least $500,000 in local startups through pitch competitions. Throughout the day we also visit the fastest growing local startups, hear directly from innovators, spend time learning from local policy and business leaders. OUR TEAM Steve Case leads the Rise of the Rest® Seed Fund, alongside Managing Partner David Hall, and Partner Anna Mason. The investment team’s backgrounds, coupled with the strength and depth of our network platform, uniquely enables us to assist portfolio companies with their market positioning, access to potential partners, and efforts to understand policies that can impact their business or industry.

FR

Fil Rouge Capital

Fil Rouge Capital (FRC) is an investment fund manager whose funds focus on early stage businesses from pre-seed, seed, and Series A rounds of investment. ManifestoWe love building and being part of an entrepreneurial ecosystem where everybody plays their role. We want to make the Croatian entrepreneurial ecosystem the best in class so expect to see a lot of us because this is what we want to achieve! Our reputation is our wealth. We always stand behind our founders, in good and bad times, we mean it, you will see! We hate getting the “long yes” so we never give …the “long yes”. We love bold founders and we provide “Capital for the Bold”. Get it? We at FRC have “been there, done that”. Our combined M&A and financing track records exceed $4B. We didn’t always get it right, but we’re not ashamed of it. We can give continuous support to our startups from incubation and acceleration to scale-up and exit. “We bring you more than money”: every VC claims it but very few actually live by it – we do. We were voted “Best Investor” in our region 2 years in a row and there is a reason for that. We’re fine with opinions but we’d rather focus on facts. We are no nonsense guys. We will tell you things as they are, we never intend to demean or hurt. We might seem offensive every now and then, remember, we NEVER mean bad but we’d rather be straight.
