We see ourselves as service providers to our portfolio and aim to be a “go-to” board member for our portfolio companies. VALUE ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPERIENCE All of our partners have founded companies or have actively incubated companies as founding board members. We have empathy and a fundamental respect for the entrepreneurial experience. BRING A POWERFUL NETWORK OF CUSTOMERS AND CO-INVESTORS We cultivate and manage a network of more than 500 executives at major industrial and technology companies to assist our teams with product feedback, partnerships or potential customer relationships. Selling into ‘old-school’ industries takes both novel technology and novel business model approaches, as well as connections to forward-thinking early adopters. We connect our portfolio to a network that accelerates time-to-market and tests new ideas for young companies. OPERATE AS A TEAM We have worked together as a team for over eight years and have developed high-functioning, direct communications and processes to collaborate on investment execution and assist on portfolio work. Importantly, our journey together through both successes and failures provides us with a clear, shared view of what makes businesses successful. LEVERAGE OUR ROOTS AT KLEINER PERKINS Years of managing the Green Growth Fund at Kleiner Perkins, a partnership with a 45-year track record, have ingrained many of the foundational goals and practices that shaped Kleiner Perkins: a focus on entrepreneurs, active company building, and a willingness to think big. We remain actively involved with Kleiner Perkins as we continue to manage the firm’s Green Growth Fund and its existing portfolio companies. We are also headquartered in Silicon Valley, at the center of California’s technology ecosystem. This presence and network offers visibility into cutting edge technologies that will disrupt large industries in the coming years.

Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures (VKAV) is the first fund by Verod-Kepple Africa Partners, a joint venture between Verod Capital Management Limited and Kepple Africa Ventures. Launched in 2021, VKAV is a US$60 million pan-African venture fund investing in scalable, tech-enabled, post-revenue businesses bringing about transformative change by addressing difficult challenges across various industries on the continent. Our portfolio companies currently consist of Moove, NowPay, Koko Networks, Ceviant, Chari, Shuttlers, Nawy, Julaya, Chefaa, Cloudline, mTek, Zone, Tagaddod, WorkPay and Autochek. We are supported by a diverse group of prominent global institutional investors and family offices with extensive experience in investing in emerging markets.

We’ve developed a playbook to rapidly validate, refine, and build new ventures in order to catalyze innovation and accelerate them to scale. Venture Equity provides support for idea generation, thesis development, and access to scientific and business expertise, investors, and our world-class network. Early-Stage Early-Stage investing spans the journey from seed round to initial viability and early customer base. Since Eclipse’s inception, we’ve invested in Early-Stage companies poised to potentially generate scalable value for physical industries. We partner with founders creating what we believe are industry-changing products, services, and experiences. Our Early-Stage team has the deep operational experience and technical expertise to provide investment, mentorship, and strategic, hands-on guidance, supporting entrepreneurs as they build their businesses from the early days through to viability and market fit. Early Growth The Early Growth team partners with startups with what we have evaluated to be a proven technological value proposition that are entering their go-to-market stage. Early Growth partners with companies that have gone from Zero to One and are plotting a course to go from One to Ten. As a team of operators, we have built and scaled successful companies in physical industries and have the methodology, the domain expertise, and the connections to help promising startups aim to transition into high-performance, high-quality, generational companies that will shape the future.

We've funded toys, rebuilds, spin-outs, un-scalables, small TAMs, and unproven founders. Chicago Ventures launched in 2012 to fill an acute market gap. At the time, early-stage capital flowed as if innovation were restricted by geography. Venture dollars were raised and distributed all within a few select area codes. We believed then, and know today, that enduring companies can be built anywhere, by anyone.
