Unconventional Ventures is a Copenhagen-based venture capital firm founded in 2018. It invests at pre-seed and seed stage in impact technology companies led by underrepresented founders - defined by the firm as women, people of colour and/or LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs - with a geographic focus on the Nordics and Europe. Portfolio theses span climate, health, education and fintech, in each case targeting scalable companies with impact at their core.
The firm operates with a small partnership of two general partners, Thea Messel and Nora Bavey. Beyond capital, the stated mandate includes direct founder support and work aimed at strengthening a more inclusive technology ecosystem. Fund size and individual check sizes are not disclosed.
