Tera Ventures

Estonian seed and early-stage venture capital firm backing born-global digital startups, leading rounds with follow-on support and international market access.

Tera Ventures is a venture capital firm founded in 2016 and headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. It invests at the seed and early stage in what it terms born-global digital startups - companies designed from inception to serve international rather than purely domestic markets. The firm describes its approach as industry-agnostic, with investments spanning artificial intelligence, machine learning, fintech, automation, cybersecurity, robotics, enterprise software, ecommerce and mobility.

The firm's second fund is a seed-stage vehicle targeting a portfolio of approximately 30 technology startups. Tera typically leads investment rounds and commits follow-on capital, supplementing cheque-writing with assistance on international market entry and introductions to global corporations and additional investors. Its geographic remit covers Estonia, the Nordics, Central and Eastern Europe and Europe more broadly.

Named portfolio companies include Scoro, Monese, Jobbatical, Cleveron, Montonio, AI Clearing, Blackwall and Avokaado. The firm lists GrabCAD among its exited investments. The investment thesis - small, concentrated seed portfolios in capital-light digital businesses built for cross-border scale from day one - reflects the structure of the Estonian and wider Baltic technology market, where domestic demand is limited and export orientation is the default.

Working practice at Tera Ventures is described as hands-on and founder-friendly, with the emphasis on round leadership and sustained involvement through the follow-on stages rather than passive participation.
