Introduction

The Financial Services team, with one of the largest portfolios in Temasek, invests globally across both balance sheet businesses (banks, insurance) and capital light models such as payments / commerce enablement, asset / wealth management, capital markets infrastructure and financial software. It seeks to invest behind long term secular thematics while navigating multi-year cyclical dynamics in the sector, in order to deliver resilient risk-adjusted returns. It invests across both public and private markets.

Responsibilities
  • Identifying, screening and assessing investment opportunities across public and private market, spanning focus sub-sectors and markets
  • Supporting deal evaluation including financial modeling, valuation analysis, industry research and investment due diligence
  • Building and maintaining investment perspectives on key financial services themes and subsectors
  • Constantly developing and renewing industry / sector knowledge including key industry, macroeconomic and regulatory developments
  • Supporting portfolio management including performance monitoring, evaluating stake management options, and potentially working on value creation opportunities or deep dives on the company or broader industry
  • Establishing and cultivating relationships with companies, management teams, intermediaries and strategic partners
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Engineering
  • 1-3 years’ working experience with a top-tier private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, M&A or research firm. Buyside or sellside experience covering financial services companies will be viewed favourably
  • Demonstrated curiosity about financial services sector developments, innovations, and structural industry shifts
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work well within diverse teams and deal with multiple stakeholders
  • Desire to develop / maintain relationships with intermediaries and relevant institutions
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independently
  • Familiar with use of appropriate electronic data sources (e.g. Bloomberg, Factiva, Cap IQ etc).

Role is based in Singapore with global investment coverage.
