About Sky9 Capital

Sky9 Capital is a leading global venture capital firm. Founded in 2011, the firm focuses on investing in disruptive technologies and outstanding innovators across Consumer Internet, Enterprise/SaaS, Deep Tech (AI/Robotics), Fintech, and Web3 sectors. The company has a global presence spanning San Francisco, Singapore, Shanghai, and Beijing, and has backed companies including ByteDance (TikTok), Pinduoduo (Temu), Meituan, and others. The firm operates under a "VC 3.0" philosophy.

The Role

We are seeking a Venture Capital Associate to join our San Francisco team. In this role, you will work directly with our Partners to identify, evaluate, and execute early-to-growth stage investments. This is a unique opportunity for an academically accomplished individual with a technical background to bridge the gap between complex engineering innovations and venture-scale business models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deal Sourcing & Thesis Generation: Proactively source new investment opportunities within Silicon Valley's deep tech and consumer ecosystems. Develop independent investment theses in emerging areas (e.g., Generative AI, Robotics, Vertical SaaS, Fintech).
  • Due Diligence: Lead rigorous commercial and technical due diligence. This includes market sizing, competitive landscape analysis, financial modeling, and—crucially—assessing the technical viability of engineering-heavy products.
  • Investment Analysis: Prepare investment memos and present high-conviction recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Portfolio Support: Work closely with portfolio founders to support their growth, leveraging Sky9's global network for business development, hiring, international expansion, and strategy.
  • Market Intelligence: Attend demo days, hackathons, and industry conferences to build a strong network among founders, angels, and other VCs.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 0-3 years of high-performance work experience in Product Management, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Management Consulting (preferably in technology sectors).
  • Local Networks: Well-networked within the San Francisco Bay Area startup community.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field is strictly required—we are looking for candidates who can "speak the language" of technical founders.
  • Academics: Demonstrated history of academic excellence from a top-tier university.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong financial modeling and data analysis proficiency
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about technology trends and startup business models
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights
  • Self-starter with an owner's mindset; high integrity; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
