Job Description
Sidekick is seeking a Finance & Operations Analyst to support the firm’s finance, fund operations, investment, and portfolio-monitoring activities. This role will work across the organization and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of an early-stage investment firm.
We are a small team, so you will be trusted with significant responsibilities early and will manage a broad mix of recurring processes and ad hoc projects. The position will be based in Dallas-Fort Worth or New York City, and it will be in-office at least 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Manage a wide variety of ad hoc projects across finance and operations
- Maintain internal databases and records, including portfolio company valuations, investment activity, and key operating metrics
- Help manage fund-level financial statements and general ledger activity in QuickBooks, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Support the issuance and tracking of capital calls, distributions, and investor statements
- Assist with budgeting, cash forecasting, expense management, accounts payable, and vendor administration
- Coordinate with fund administrators, tax advisors, auditors, banks, and other external service providers
- Support quarterly and annual close processes, valuation updates, audit requests, tax deliverables, and regulatory or compliance reporting
- Assist with market research, channel checks, competitive analyses, founder references, and other due diligence
- Help manage the investment pipeline, including preparing and distributing a weekly deal pipeline summary
- Prepare materials for internal team meetings and external investor updates
- Improve recurring workflows, documentation, controls, and reporting through thoughtful use of technology and automation
Skills and Qualifications
- Hard-working, high integrity, and low ego
- Independent problem solver with extreme attention to detail
- Strong work ethic – this is not a 9-to-5 role; it is common to work evenings and a few hours per weekend
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize multiple assignments
- 0-4 years of experience in finance, accounting, fund administration, investment operations, professional services, or a high-growth operating environment
- Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills, with close attention to detail
- Working knowledge of financial statements, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations are helpful but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with QuickBooks is preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong hands-on skills developing processes and applications in Claude or other AI tools
What Sidekick offers
- Exposure to every part of the venture business: fund finance and operations, investing, portfolio work, and LP reporting
- Meaningful responsibility and ownership
- Competitive salary and benefits
- A small team that moves quickly and prosecutes a rigorous approach to investing
