Executive Director

Doha, Doha, QatarFull-time1 hr. ago

About the job

The QVenture Capital Association (QVCA) is Qatar's first national venture capital association, launched in May 2025 under the auspices of the Qatar Economic Forum. The Association is hiring its Executive Director to scale QVCA from its inaugural year into a self-sustaining institution, owning fundraising, membership growth, programming, advocacy, marketing, governance, and finance.

The role reports directly to the Board of Founding Members. You will be the public face of QVCA day-to-day, the chief operator behind the scenes, and the person who turns a Board mandate into shipped outcomes.

This is a chance to build the institution that will define how venture capital is practiced, regulated, and grown in Qatar, alongside A-typical Ventures, Builders VC | MENA, Golden Gate Ventures MENA, and Rasmal Ventures.

Who this role is for

  • Established VC and private capital professionals ready to step out of a single-firm seat and into an industry-shaping platform
  • High-performing professionals breaking into MENA venture capital from investment banking, consulting, public policy, ecosystem building, or accelerator leadership, based in or willing to relocate to Doha

Either way, you will exit this role with a one-of-one credential: operator of Qatar's national VC association, with direct relationships across the Founding Members, Qatari government, and the regional GP/LP community.

We are looking for someone with the gravitas and maturity to build trusted relationships with C-suite leaders across Qatar and the wider Middle East, combined with the drive and hands-on capability to programs and convene high-impact training workshops, annual forums and policy roundtables that meaningfully strengthen the ecosystem.

What you'll own

  • Fundraising and sponsorships: build and close the pipeline across tiers; cultivate institutional and strategic partners
  • Membership growth: drive acquisition and retention across membership tiers
  • Member benefits: negotiate perks with third party ecosystem partners
  • Training and education: organize and coordinate the workshop and educational programs for investors and prospective investors, curating the curriculum and securing the subject-matter experts and facilitators who lead each session
  • Marketing and thought leadership: run QVCA's voice on LinkedIn and across digital channels; commission flagship reports and content
  • Events and programming: deliver the annual calendar, including GP/LP convenings, Web Summit Qatar side events, training, and the AGM
  • Advocacy and policy: liaise with venture capital funds, government institutions, and regulatory authorities
  • Governance and finance: run Board meetings and minutes; own the budget, forecast, and quarterly financial reporting
  • Fiscal and regulatory governance: build and maintain the right governance framework for the Association, working closely with the Board of Directors
  • Team building: hire and lead the QVCA team as the Association scales

What you must bring

  • 5+ years across venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, ecosystem development, or public policy
  • Verifiable revenue track record in fundraising, sponsorship, business development, LP capital raising, or commercial partnerships
  • Event management experience: organizing and coordinating workshops, forums, conferences, and roundtables end to end, including speaker and facilitator sourcing
  • Reputation building experience: representing an institution publicly and building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Builder's mindset, energized by zero-to-one work and visible ownership
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Based in Doha, or willing to relocate

What would set you apart

  • Working knowledge of the VC/PE asset class, including fund structures, LP/GP dynamics, and deal lifecycle
  • Experience leading a regulatory or policy consultation, or authoring position papers taken up by government stakeholders
  • A track record raising from, or managing relationships with, sovereign wealth funds, institutional LPs, or family offices
  • Published research or thought leadership on venture capital, private markets, or ecosystem development
  • Comfort as a public spokesperson: moderating panels, delivering keynotes, and engaging regional and international press
  • Founder or early-operator experience, which carries credibility with the member base
  • A network extending beyond Qatar, across the GCC or into global venture hubs
  • Experience working with or within an industry association or member-based organization
  • Working Arabic
  • Existing relationships across Qatar's investment and regulatory landscape

Compensation and growth

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, performance-based annual bonus tied to membership growth, sponsorship revenue, and programmatic milestones, plus year-on-year compensation growth as the Association scales.

How to apply

Apply via the QVCA application form linked above. You will be asked to upload your CV (PDF) and to answer three short written questions about your experience and how you would approach the role. These questions take the place of a cover letter, so treat them as your opportunity to make the case. If you cannot access the form, email your CV and a short note addressing those questions to info@qvca.co with the subject line "Executive Director, [Your Name]". Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and treated in strictest confidence.
