One Small Planet
One Small Planet runs an impact-oriented venture fund for life-affirming early-stage companies alongside philanthropy, land stewardship and media work.
One Small Planet is a capital group that combines an impact-oriented venture fund with philanthropy, land stewardship and media activity. Its venture arm, referred to as Fire, backs life-affirming technologies and early-stage companies; the stated purpose of the wider organisation is to align economic systems with the well-being of people and the planet. Cheque sizes, fund vintage and team size are not disclosed.
The group organises its work around four connected pillars. Fire covers venture investment. Water is the philanthropy pillar, which invests alongside Indigenous leaders. Earth covers land stewardship, including stewardship of primary rainforest in Costa Rica and the restoration of cropland to native grassland in western Kansas, USA. Air is the media pillar, tasked with sharing ideas and building a community of allies. The verticals span land stewardship and conservation, philanthropy, early-stage technology and media.
Success is measured, in the organisation's own terms, by ecological health, relationships with local communities and the responsible allocation of capital, rather than by financial return alone. Its stated mission extends beyond conventional impact framing: the group aims to shift culture beyond an anthropocentric worldview and to recognise all life as kin rather than as a resource. Geographic activity disclosed to date is concentrated in Costa Rica and western Kansas.
