About us

NZVC is one of ANZ's most active early-stage venture funds. Since 2021 we've run two funds and backed 70+ companies. Alongside the fund we operate a product studio, Antipodean Labs, where we build software. We have a pipeline of ideas ready to spin out. One is already live with paying customers. Others are earlier.

The opportunity

We're hiring an Entrepreneur-in-Residence to work directly with the GPs and Antipodean Labs to find the right bet and build it. If we find the thing, you run the company as co-founder with full founder-level equity. You get engineers already shipping, capital committed, and direct access to one of the most active funds in the region and its portfolio.

The structure

  • 3-month paid contract, modest base
  • At the end: either we've found the company and you run it as co-founder with full founder equity, or we part ways cleanly
  • Either way, three months alongside the GPs learning venture from the inside

What you'll do

  • Pressure-test the strongest ideas in our pipeline with the GPs and Antipodean Labs
  • Talk to customers, sell, and feed what you learn back into the product
  • Set product direction day-to-day with our existing engineering team
  • Shape commercial strategy, GTM, and early fundraising for whatever we spin out

Who we want

We care most about one thing: what have you actually done? Tell us about something specific — a company you ran, a number you moved, a system you hacked, a thing you shipped that shouldn't have worked.

Someone who can sell and has taste for product. You don't need to be super technical, but you need to know good product when you see it, push back on engineers when something isn't right, and sit across from a customer and close them.

You might be:

  • A founder whose last thing didn't work out
  • An early commercial hire at a startup that scaled
  • An operator who wants to build
  • A new grad with a serious track record of side projects, sales, or shipping things

CV, age, and credentials don't matter. We care about what you've done.

This will suit you if you're already obsessed with building and want a real shot. It won't suit you if you're looking for a job.
