Necessary Ventures invests across private and public markets, from incubations and pre-seed investments to pre-IPO and public equities. Some of its portfolio companies also have real estate components. We are a small team. Everyone sources and everyone underwrites.

The role

We are hiring an investor. We are deliberately not specifying a stage or background. The people we want to talk to have demonstrated excellence in at least one asset class, original thinking, and unbounded curiosity.

What matters more than the stage or asset class you've won in is that you have an understanding of why and how you won as well as how different investors win in different asset classes.

What you will do

The primary responsibilities include building and maintaining your own pipeline of founders/companies across our themes, doing the research and diligence to build a differentiated view, and supporting/managing the portfolio after the fact. We take an active approach to our investing rather than passively waiting to see if we were right or wrong.

Who we are looking for

• 2+ years investing or operating in a relevant domain with demonstrated ability to develop depth in a new area rapidly
• A track record of being early and right or contrarian and right
• An understanding of how investments are made from pre-seed to pre-IPO
• Technical fluency in at least one of our themes
• Strong writing and financial understanding from the micro to the macro
