Compliance Lead – Venture Capital

Lavni Ventures is an early-stage deep-tech impact fund (CAT II AIF) investing in Climate and Health. We back founders solving hard, meaningful problems from India for the world, writing cheques at pre-seed to Series A. We are a small, hands-on team who like to move fast.

Location: Bangalore or Pune preferred, open to exceptional candidates from other locations as well.

About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Lead to run the full compliance function for the fund. You will build and drive the compliance calendar, coordinate closely with our compliance consultants and lawyers, and make sure nothing slips. This is a hands-on, driving role, not a passive oversight one.

What you will do

• Build and run a robust compliance calendar. Track every requirement, follow up, and drive each item to completion.
• Own the fund's regulatory compliance, including but not limited to SEBI and RBI/FEMA compliances, and the broader filing and reporting obligations that come with a Category II AIF.
• Work closely with our compliance consultants on a day-to-day basis and drive the full process rather than just tracking it.
• Keep clean records and make sure the fund stays audit-ready.
• Coordinate with our lawyers on the legal closing of investments and stay on top of the process through to close and regulatory filings.

What we are looking for

• Experience: 3-4 years of Fund operations experience with hands-on exposure to AIF compliance. This is mandatory.
• You have handled at least 1 annual cycle of regulatory filings for an AIF. This is mandatory.
• Strong follow-through. You are organized, own your calendar, chase things to done without being chased, with a high ownership mindset and a self-starter who can work independently in a remote setup and still stay close to the team
• Comfortable working directly with consultants and lawyers and holding them to timelines.
• An AI-first way of working, using AI tools to stay on top of a heavy, repetitive workload.
• Growth mindset, with someone keen to go beyond core compliance and get involved in deal structuring, deal evaluation, and commercial discussions.
• Certificate in hand or willing to get.
• NISM Series III-C: Securities Intermediaries Compliance (Fund) Certification
• NISM Series XIX-C: Alternative Investment Fund Managers Certification
• A Company Secretary (CS) background is a nice-to-have, NOT mandatory.
