Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Compliance, the Fund Accountant will serve as a key contributor to our venture capital firm’s financial operations team with specialized responsibility for co-investment vehicles and funds. This hands-on role executes the day-to-day financial management, reporting, and administration of our portfolio while supporting the VP’s broader strategic initiatives around fund administration and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Tax
- Execute comprehensive financial management for all investment vehicles, including closes, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Generate NAV calculations and investment valuation support for investment vehicle holdings
- Support the team in annual audit processes by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests
- Create performance analyses including IRR, MoM, and cash flow projections for each vehicle
- Assist with tax coordination including K-1 preparation support and documentation for investment entities
Management Fee & Expense Management
- Calculate and process management fees for investment vehicles in coordination with the Finance team and vendors
- Track, categorize, and allocate expenses across investments according to partnership agreements
Compliance Support
- Ensure SPV operations comply with partnership agreements, SEC regulations, and firm policies
- Process Form D and Blue Sky Filing Fees
- Help maintain compliance documentation and support annual compliance reviews
Process Improvement & Systems
- Develop standard operating procedures for SPV and fund administration and financial processes
- Support technology implementations and system integrations
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
What We Look For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 2+ years of experience in financial services, with preference for private equity, venture capital or fund administration experience
- CPA certification preferred but not required
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
- Experience with NAV calculations and investment valuation methodologies
- Knowledge of partnership accounting and waterfall calculations
- Experience with audit processes and working with external auditors
- Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex financial data
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and develop solutions
- Detail-oriented with strong reconciliation and quality control skills
Industry Knowledge
- Knowledge of SPV mechanics, co-investment processes, and limited partnership agreements
- Familiarity with tax implications of private fund structures
