Health Velocity Capital is seeking an Associate with 2-3 years of experience for its San Francisco office. The Associate will work closely with Health Velocity Capital's Partners, Senior Associates, and CFO.
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis
Perform financial analyses and prepare due diligence materials on prospective investments; responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting Partners, Senior Associates, and CFO with the development of financial projections and returns models
Conducting financial analysis to assess companies’ historical financials, unit economics, customer-by-customer details, pipeline and backlog details, customer utilization data, customer churn analyses, team productivity metrics, and other key performance indicators (KPIs)
Creating charts and graphs to illustrate key data and findings
Analyzing market size, competitive landscape, and market segments
Developing in partnership with Partners investment memorandum for Health Velocity Capital’s commitment committee and limited partners
Prepare for, participate, document, and potentially lead diligence calls handling professionally, with courtesy, curiosity, and graciousness
Sourcing
Research and screen potential investment opportunities, ideas, and technologies
Quickly develop a sense of what makes an appropriate Health Velocity Capital investment opportunity
Lead pitch calls with prospective investments
Take calls and meetings on behalf of Partners and professionally represent the firm in these calls and meetings
Summarize and type up all call notes and input in deals database (all Partners do this as well)
Cold call/email relevant investment opportunities
Perform market research and develop whitepapers on Health Velocity Capital’s targeted investment themes as well as develop market landscapes and lists of innovative companies to be contacted
Refine existing database to track and monitor sourcing activities; log new opportunities into CRM database
Tirelessly develop your network of other investors, health systems, payers, and other strategic industry connections to access deal flow and proprietary information
Be a visible presence for Health Velocity Capital at local events and at conferences
Research and understand various policy initiatives
Participate in outreach initiatives to bolster the firm’s reach and reputation
Strategic LP Management and Other
Contribute to materials and summaries for annual LP meetings, advisory board meetings, limited partner off-sites and webinars, limited partner updates, and more
Prepare standard strategic limited partner presentation materials and keep track of themes and companies of interest to present.
Assist with preparation for bi-annual Limited Partner Advisory Committee meetings
Leverage personal skills and network to assist portfolio companies in any way; bring to bear the full weight of the firm's network on behalf of portfolio companies
Maintain comparable exit multiples database and waterfall analyses for return profiles
Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks and the development of internal processes (CFO, Senior Associates, and all Partners perform as well)
Qualifications
College graduate with 2-3 years of work experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, management consulting, and/or corporate development
Candidates should be very detail-oriented, strong researchers, highly competitive, extremely passionate about healthcare and/or venture capital, have demonstrated ability to work hard, intelligent and curious
Excellent Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) skills
Analytic and quantitative skills needed to review financial and market projections, balance sheets, and operating plans of potential and existing investments
Ability to not just perform analyses but also present in a thoughtful, nuanced way with a story behind the presentation (versus a data dump of charts, tables, and pros/cons)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
