At Entrepreneur First (“EF”), we believe that a small number of exceptional people will have an extraordinary impact by creating the technology companies which shape the future in ways we cannot yet imagine. We also believe that for many of these individuals, entrepreneurship is not an obvious or entirely legible career path.
We exist to identify, and amplify the impact of, these individuals. We do this via our unique approach to company creation, which sees us identify and work with outliers before they even know they’re outliers, right through to the day they prove it. We call this Talent Investing.
The companies built at EF are now worth over $13bn. They include Tractable (a computer vision unicorn), Magic Pony Technology (AI, acquired by Twitter for a reported $150m), La Vie (foodtech), Kinetix (creator tools), Neoplants (biotech) and many more.
EF is backed by some of the world's leading founders and investors, including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe); Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Tom Blomfield (GoCardless and Monzo), Sara Clemens (Pandora and Twitch); Nat Friedman (GitHub); and Matt Mullenweg (Wordpress). We exist to make great companies happen that otherwise wouldn’t.
Why this role?
The global founders that we back increasingly want access to US capital, talent and customers via San Francisco, as soon as possible. So we’ve launched The Bridge - the fastest way for Europeans to build massive companies in SF from scratch.
This will be a ‘residency’ version of the team- and company-building programme EF has refined over the last decade: cohorts of 40-50 founders, living, working and building companies together from scratch, in a house in SF. These cohorts will be run every 3 months, starting in April 2026.
With most of The Bridge team in Europe identifying exceptional individuals to join the residency as founders, you will be the first hire in this team permanently on the ground in SF. This is an opportunity to shape how we run one of EF’s most exciting new programme launches from the very beginning.
What you’ll do
You will be the operational jack-of-all-trades - from co-ordinating guest speakers and running house logistics, to organising workshops and being responsible for the house vibes. If it has to do with the house or the founders in it, it’s your responsibility. You make sure the residency runs smoothly, and everyone has a great experience living there.
Who you are
Operational experience: 2-3+ years in an operational role in a high-growth startup or founding environment.
Tech-Savvy: Proficient in tools like Airtable, Slack, and Salesforce, with experience in creating automations. Curiosity and willingness to learn-on-the job will be considered, if you don’t have experience.
Strategic & Tactical Balance: Proven ability to think long-term while excelling in day-to-day execution.
High regard for detail: Meticulous in record-keeping and tracking metrics.
Customer-obsessed: doing everything with customer experience in mind
Team player: Exceptional verbal and written skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
You get energy from being in the detail solving problems - you thrive when making “order from chaos”. You bring structure to any environment you are part of and see ambiguity as an opportunity to define your role. You demonstrate maximum organizational efficiency to get things done on time and on budget, whilst staying open to changes which might arise.
You flourish in fast-paced environments with high levels of ambiguity and change - You are able to synthesize large amounts of information quickly and take a First Principles approach to problem solving. You are able to synthesise large amounts of information quickly, and identify root problems rather than the ones directly in front of you.
You are a clear communicator, and build trusted relationships with those you work with. You have a high EQ and team player mentality, enabling you to work with stakeholders of all different levels and expertise. You can both incorporate differing viewpoints in your work and be confident in communicating your own reasoning to get other teams bought in.
You take ownership of your work and growth, and enjoy high-trust, low-touch management. You are excited to upskill independently to drive your own development. You don’t wait to be told what to do, but take on a varied workload and context switch when needed. You prioritise the most important tasks rather than getting distracted by small issues, and only raise problems when you have a variety of solutions at hand.
Reasons not to take this job
You want a structured 9-5pm job with clear responsibilities - working in Ops launching a brand new product/programme requires a scrappy, proactive, and flexible mindset.
You want a slow ramp up and time to find your feet before being given tasks - we’ll equip you with what you need to get started but doing well in this job will involve diving headfirst and being hungry for responsibility to make an impact fast.
You want to work remotely - this job requires you to be in our founder house in San Francisco 5 days a week and may involve the occasional weekend or evening event as part of delivering on our founder experience.
