Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance

Founded in 2008, the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance backs African technology founders through structured programmes and co-investments via the Harambeans Prosperity Fund, drawing on a network of 300+ members.

The Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance is an Africa-focused entrepreneurial network and co-investor founded in 2008. Alongside its programme work, the alliance makes startup co-investments through the Harambeans Prosperity Fund, giving it a direct line of sight onto early-stage African ventures emerging from its own membership base. The organisation operates across Africa and works at the intersection of venture building, founder development and capital access.

Its principal asset is the network itself: more than 300 members, known as Harambeans, who pledge to work together and to share experience across sectors and countries. Ventures associated with the network include Andela, Flutterwave and Yoco - companies that have since become reference points for technology investment on the continent. For investors, the alliance functions as a structured sourcing and diligence channel built on long-term relationships with founders rather than transactional deal flow.

Programme activity is geared towards connecting promising young African leaders with training, markets, capital and support networks, and towards helping members build businesses and social ventures intended to scale. This includes founder training and mentorship, publications, convening events, and broader ecosystem-building initiatives. Membership spans both commercial and social ventures, with an emphasis on cross-sector collaboration and peer learning.

The stated orientation is mission-driven - unlocking Africa's potential through enterprise - but the operating model is pragmatic: structured programmes produce investable companies, and the Prosperity Fund allows the alliance to co-invest alongside them. Prospective partners and hires should expect a community-led organisation where network stewardship, founder relationships and cross-border coordination sit at the centre of the work.
