Harlem Capital is a venture capital firm on a mission to change the face of entrepreneurship by investing in 1,000 diverse founders over 20 years. The world is missing out on a great deal of innovative companies by not investing more heavily in women and diverse entrepreneurs. Harlem Capital is addressing the disparity ourselves rather than waiting for other Venture Capital firms to come around. Communities of color are massive exporters of cultural and economic value, thus the more of us we have on the investor side of the table, the more we can proactively ensure more women and founders of color build equity in the same ecosystem we’re helping to build. We believe it’s important for founders to know there are people who look like them willing to invest in and support them and for the next generation to know that they too can be successful in VC. We’re changing the face of entrepreneurship and create generational wealth for people of color and women. It is why we have introduced "culture carry", allowing our founders to split 1% of the fund’s carry with the hope that all founders will benefit directly from each other’s success.

We need to shine a light inwards on our collective blindspots, and cast out a wider and more inclusive net to find and support existing talent. Instead of relying on unseen market forces, we’re taking matters into our own hands. No one should have to look a certain way to be deemed deserving; great entrepreneurs are all around us but we must choose to see them. By sharing our privileges with those not born into it and manufacturing fairness where it doesn’t yet exist, we can fundamentally change access to wealth and opportunity in this generation. Women have less investment knowledge and are less confident about investing than men. We are team of committed women convinced that it’s the time to change this statement. Women have to be part of the technology revolution which takes place right under their nose. Tech with Purpose, where impact is at the core of the business model, is our Club’s investment thesis. The current growth-at-all-costs Unicorn model doesn’t fit the reality anymore. Instead, we are looking for the Camel model, as they show valuable lessons on how to survive through crisis, and to sustain and grow in adverse conditions.
