Portfolio Analyst

£45K – £55K YearlyLondon, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid)Full-time1h ago

About the Company

Future Planet Capital is a global venture firm backing breakthrough companies that emerge from the world's leading universities and research ecosystems to solve humanity's greatest challenges. Investing at various stages, from Pre-Seed to Series C, we back companies solving the issues of our time across climate change, health, education, security and sustainable growth.

The Portfolio Analyst role sits within our Global team. We're a scrappy team that helped grow Future Planet Capital from a $20m experiment fund into the $500m platform it is today, and we're not finished. The role works across The British Co-Investment Fund (BCF), a UK-focused fund backing high-potential founders across the country's innovation clusters.

The Role

We're hiring a Portfolio Analyst to help ensure we continue to run a world-class portfolio monitoring and value-add platform. You'll be at the heart of how we track performance, run valuations and reporting, helping rebuild our tech stack so we stay at the forefront of how GenAI is reshaping VC. You'll also be communicating regularly with founders and key stakeholders in our existing portfolio companies, supporting them as they grow.

However, we want to stress up front that this is not an investment role and is unlikely to ever lead to one. We're looking for someone who finds planning and delivering world-class operations genuinely exciting.

As part of this role, you would:

  • Run portfolio monitoring across multiple FPC funds within the Global strategy. You'll source KPIs, financial performance, and key milestones from our underlying holdings, and you'll help continually refine the systems that keep that data clean, current, and trusted across the firm.
  • Help run the quarterly valuation cycle: build and maintain valuation models, benchmark against comparables, and produce defensible write-ups for the IC and auditors.
  • Hold regular check-ins with founders and CFOs across our existing portfolio to surface risks, opportunities, and support needs early.
  • Partner with portfolio companies on follow-on rounds, strategic introductions, and operational challenges where FPC can add value.
  • Help produce LP-ready portfolio reporting including fund performance summaries, company deep-dives, and thematic updates.
  • Extend the tech stack that makes all of the above scale. You'll leverage and improve what's there, layering in lightweight tools, dashboards, and automations that replace manual workflows to give the team genuine leverage.

Requirements — Skills & Background

  • 2–4 years in VC or PE portfolio operations, fintech (e.g. Republic, Seedrs, Crowdcube, Carta), or a tech-forward investment role.
  • Genuinely loves tech. We want someone who follows what's happening in startups, AI, and fintech for fun, not just work.
  • Comfortable vibe-coding, prompting LLMs, and using tools like Airtable, Retool, or lightweight Python/SQL to build systems that didn't exist yesterday.
  • Strong financial analysis skills. Comfortable building and stress-testing models, and forming a view on company performance.
  • Highly organised across multiple companies and reporting deadlines, with sharp attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator who can hold their own with founders, CFOs, auditors, and LPs.
  • Familiarity with VC fund structures, SPVs, or IPEV valuation guidelines is a plus, not a requirement.

What We're Looking For

  • A systems thinker. You see the firm as a set of workflows that can be designed, instrumented, and improved.
  • Highly detail-oriented. You catch the inconsistency in a cap table, the typo in an LP report, the figure that doesn't reconcile — before anyone else does.
  • Brings order to chaos. Multiple companies, conflicting deadlines, half-built systems — you structure it, document it, and ship it.
  • Bias toward action over waiting for perfect information.
  • A grafter. You get things done.
  • Addicted to Claude. You already use Claude, or the like, every day for analysis, drafting, building, thinking.
  • Low ego, high empathy, and a genuine belief that the team wins or loses together.
  • Passionate about impact-driven investing and the companies emerging from the world's research ecosystems.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £45–55k commensurate with experience, alongside a discretionary bonus linked to individual and fund performance and in time, participation in the carried interest scheme.

  • 10% pension contribution
  • Private healthcare insurance
  • 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Access to training and professional development opportunities

This is a year-2 fixed-term role, reviewed against fund growth and deployment at the 12- and 24-month mark.

Closing date for applications is 5th June 2026.
