Expansion Ventures

Expansion Ventures is a European early-stage venture capital fund that invests in aerospace and defence technology companies across the continent, from pre-seed to Series B. Initial tickets range from €0.5 million to €2 million. The fund reports 24 investments and €145 million under management, and is supported by the European Union under the InvestEU Fund. Its stated remit includes strengthening Europe's technological sovereignty and resilience, as well as sustainable aerospace and defence.

The investment focus spans satellite systems and constellations, satellite manufacturing, space data and applications, in-orbit services and infrastructure, propulsion, launch, space-based connectivity and orbital services, secure communications and C4ISR, AI-enabled defence systems, and robotics and autonomous systems. Dual-use technologies - those with both civilian and military applications - form part of the mandate alongside dedicated space and defence categories.

Alongside capital, the fund provides sector expertise, strategic insight and long-term support to portfolio companies. It discloses fund metrics, including investment count and assets under management, on its website. Geographic presence covers Europe, with locations in Paris, Stockholm and Luxembourg.
