Role overview

Elaia seeks a Chief of Staff reporting directly to Xavier Lazarus, Managing Partner and Co-Founder. This role serves as a trusted right hand, enabling him/her to operate at maximum effectiveness across all dimensions of his role. The new Chief of Staff will work alongside the previous Chief of Staff and executive assistant.

Key responsibilities

1. Supporting Xavier Lazarus in his investment role

  • Prepare investment discussions, research notes, and materials for deal reviews
  • Attend investment team meetings and contribute to analysis
  • Support portfolio company tracking and board material reviews
  • Maintain relationships with academic partners and institutions

2. Supporting Xavier Lazarus in his CEO role

  • Coordinate firm governance moments: board meetings, executive committees
  • Support Lazard management participation and reporting
  • Assist fund launches and fundraising execution
  • Develop communication plans for internal and external audiences
  • Execute strategic cross-functional projects

3. Day-to-day executive support

  • Prepare all meeting materials and presentations
  • Manage Xavier's agenda in coordination with his assistant and key stakeholders
  • Ensure information flow between leadership and operations

4. AI and data transformation

  • Drive the firm-wide AI and data implementation program
  • Support adoption of new AI-powered tools and systems across teams
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Champion change management and best practices

Required technical skills

  • Strong project management skills across complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Familiarity with the startup ecosystem and the French/European tech landscape
  • Scientific and technological culture spanning software, AI, biotech, and cybersecurity
  • Genuine interest in AI tools with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Experience with planning, governance, fundraising, and communication tools
  • Knowledge of VC/PE industry preferred
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken)

Requirements

  • Master's degree (minimum)
  • More than 5 years of professional experience
  • Occasional remote work authorised
