Centech
Montreal non-profit incubator created by École de technologie supérieure, supporting deep tech startups from idea validation to commercialisation through three programmes.
Centech is a Montreal-based non-profit incubator created by École de technologie supérieure, the engineering-focused university. It supports technology entrepreneurs in turning science- and engineering-based ideas into viable companies, accompanying high-potential ventures from idea validation through to commercialization. Its position is upstream of traditional venture capital: it builds and prepares companies rather than taking equity positions, and no investment check size or fund structure is disclosed.
The organisation runs three programmes. Acceleration provides intensive support for technology startups; Propulsion offers longer-term, personalised assistance to sustain growth after the initial stage; and Collision Lab connects startups with established companies for open-innovation projects, technology scouting and tailored corporate programmes. The combination places particular emphasis on industrial and corporate pathways to market, alongside mentoring, training, practical tools and technical resources.
Centech's sector focus is weighted towards deep technology. Stated domains include medical technology, digital health, advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and automation, energy and transportation technology, telecommunications and microelectronics, education technology and defence. Operations are concentrated in Montreal, Canada. The model rests on collaboration among entrepreneurs, industry partners, experts and investors, with programmes designed to produce measurable progress on practical societal and industrial problems rather than isolated product development.
