Beyond Ventures is an institutional investment and philanthropy advisory firm serving family offices, endowments, and foundations. We combine sophisticated analytical rigor with thesis-driven strategy to help clients achieve durable financial outcomes and measurable impact. Our work spans private markets fund-of-funds—including buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, and credit—as well as direct venture investments and systems-level philanthropy. We are known for the clarity of our judgment, the depth of our analysis, and our ability to operate as a trusted extension of our clients’ decision-making teams. Clients include Pivotal, a group of organizations founded by Melinda French Gates to accelerate social progress for women and young people in the U.S. and around the world.

About the Role

As Senior Associate, you will work directly with the Managing Partner on complex private markets and venture engagements. This role is focused on rigorous investment analysis and institutional-grade execution. Unlike traditional associate roles limited to a single asset class, this position spans private markets fund-of-funds, direct venture investments, and cross-asset portfolio construction. This role offers meaningful exposure to leading institutional clients and complex capital allocation decisions within a mission-driven firm.

Key Responsibilities

Private Markets Investment & Portfolio Advisory

• Lead manager and fund due diligence across buyout, growth equity, venture capital, and private credit for both established and emerging managers;

• Build and maintain financial models and portfolio scenarios to support allocation decisions;

• Draft institutional-quality investment recommendation memos for client decision-making;

• Present investment analysis and recommendations in client meetings and discussions with senior stakeholders;

• Contribute to sourcing and evaluation of buyout, growth equity, private credit, venture capital and real assets funds through rigorous screening and benchmarking analytics.

Direct Venture Capital Deal Advisory

• Evaluate venture opportunities, including market, business model, team and key risks;

• Build, review, and stress-test financial models, including return waterfalls and sensitivity analyses;

• Develop investment theses to inform sourcing, evaluation, and portfolio strategy;

• Present venture investment analyses and portfolio insights in client discussions and investment committee settings.

Strategic Initiatives & Firm Development

• Produce written analysis and research that informs clients and advances Beyond Ventures’ point of view on capital, strategy, and long-term value;

• Provide analytical insight to mission-aligned philanthropy initiatives, supporting cross-asset strategy and systems-level capital allocation where relevant;

• Support client development initiatives, including research, drafting client proposals, preparing materials, and contributing to presentations for prospective engagements;

• Synthesize insights across asset classes to identify high-conviction investment themes and strategic opportunities.

Beyond Ventures operates in a dynamic and client-driven environment, and responsibilities may evolve to reflect client priorities and firm development. This description outlines the core scope of the role but is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate

• Approximately 4–7 years of experience in private markets fund-of-funds, private equity, venture capital, institutional advisory, or investment banking, with meaningful exposure to private equity fund strategies and venture investments;

• Demonstrated ability to perform both qualitative and quantitative due diligence across private markets asset classes and strategic initiatives;

• Strong command of financial modeling (Excel), with the ability to build complex cash flow models, return waterfalls, and portfolio scenarios;

• Ability to draft decision-ready investment memoranda for senior institutional audiences;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable producing high-quality, client-facing materials for senior institutional audiences;

• Proficiency in PowerPoint with a demonstrated ability to translate complex analysis into clean, sophisticated materials;

• Demonstrated integrity and discretion, with a commitment to high standards of conduct and the confidentiality required when serving high-profile families and foundations;

• Ability to operate independently, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver high-quality output under competing priorities.

Physical & Technical Requirements

• This role requires the ability to perform computer-based analytical work in a secure and professional remote workspace with reliable high-speed internet. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

• Periodic travel (approximately 5–10%) for client or internal meetings may be required.

Compensation & Benefits

Beyond Ventures is committed to offering compensation and a high-trust, flexible working environment. Compensation decisions are based on several factors including experience, demonstrated capability, expertise, scope of responsibility, and the needs of the firm. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $140,000 - $170,000 together with a competitive annual performance bonus. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, judgment, and ability to operate independently within the scope of the role. Benefits include participation in the company’s health plan, trust-based flexible time off, and paid parental leave.
