Pivotal Ventures (“Pivotal”) is an investment and incubation company created by Melinda French Gates. We partner, invest, and advocate to remove barriers that hold people back, concentrating on areas where progress and opportunity have stalled for millions of Americans. The pursuit of a more equal and equitable United States - not just for some of us, but for everyone - is what drives us forward. It's the why behind every problem we tackle. The fund is designed to minimize systemic bias inherent in the investment process, unlocking greater returns. The Loyal Startup Index Fund has delivered strong returns since its launch in 2018, thanks to its collaborative, staged investment process, its network of over 500 global advisors, and its partnerships with the Founder Institute, the world's largest pre-seed accelerator, and INSEAD, rated the #1 non-US business school for unicorn founders by Pitchbook. Loyal's global start-up index fund is inclusive of a diverse, often mission-driven, group of entrepreneurs. Established as the Corporate Foundation of Nominet in 2008, the Trust became independent and formed a new strategic partnership with Social Investment Business in May 2018. Now known as Social Tech Trust, the charity continues to provide grant funding and support to organisations that use tech to transform lives. Since 2008 the charity has supported over 750 socially motivated initiatives in the UK, providing more than £31m of funding to drive change with tech.
