Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is seeking a Staff Engineer to anchor automation across the security organization. You'll connect the tools the security team relies on, centralize the data they generate, and build dashboards and AI-native automations that amplify the team's capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Integrate security tools across SIEM, vulnerability scanners, EDR, identity, asset management, and ticketing systems
- Develop LLM-augmented workflows and agentic automations
- Build dashboards unifying asset inventory, vulnerability posture, and compliance evidence
- Design AI-assisted analysis and automation frameworks
- Enable security engineers to leverage AI in their daily work
Requirements
- 5+ years of security engineering experience with an automation focus
- Production-quality Python or equivalent programming skills
- Hands-on LLM/AI API integration experience
- Broad security fundamentals across cloud, detection engineering, identity, and vulnerability management
- Understanding of AI security risks (prompt injection, data exfiltration, agent boundaries)
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Compensation
$243,000–$284,000 anticipated range. Eligible for carry program and discretionary bonuses. Full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more.
This role requires 2 days/week in-office presence in San Francisco.
