We continue to expand and are seeking a Research Analyst to join our Cape Town, South Africa office. Our team is comprised of entrepreneurial, people-centric individuals from diverse backgrounds (professionally, personally, and by education) who are passionate about discovering and working with disruptive technology businesses in North America and Europe while enjoying all the benefits of living in Cape Town.

About the Role

The Research Analyst role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gardens, Cape Town. You will be an integral part of the research team, collaborating closely with our investment colleagues in the US and Europe to:

• Identify emerging trends, market drivers, discontinuities, shifts in profit pools, and investment opportunities based on primary and secondary research
• Identify private companies that are likely to be winners in their markets
• Draft research papers describing your insights and investment thesis, and share with start-up founders to gain first-hand feedback before publishing
• Work closely with investment team colleagues to evaluate and prioritize identified investment opportunities
• Support due diligence exercises and the end-to-end investment process
• Work actively with a few of the highest potential portfolio companies to optimize their operations and maximize growth.

Qualifications

• STEM Masters degree (or higher) from a leading academic institution where you consistently placed in the top ten percent of students
• At least 1-2 years of relevant experience as a management consultant with a top-tier firm (like MBB), sell-side analyst, or VC or growth equity analyst/associate

Required Skills

• Outstanding communication skills, including clear writing and concise presentation of findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Genuine interest in technology, innovation, and the venture and growth equity investing landscape.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment and maintain professionalism with colleagues based in the US and Europe, and external partners.
