I am a bioengineering student at the University of California, Riverside, pursuing a BS in Bioengineering and an MS in Bioengineering. My work combines biomedical research, mechanical design, clinical experience, and translational innovation, with research focused on ultrasound detection of thrombosis, pediatric assistive technologies, and automated OCT imaging systems. I have designed and fabricated PDMS aneurysm phantoms, infant upper-extremity models, drug-delivery capsules, and electromechanical imaging systems using CAD, 3D printing, silicone molding, LabVIEW, and stepper motor actuation. My research has been presented at undergraduate, UC LEADS, BMES, UCLA SPUR, and senior design conferences, and I have contributed to published work on infant physical models and sonographic thrombosis analysis. Alongside engineering, I have extensive clinical experience in emergency, critical care, pediatric, cardiac, and surgical environments. As a medical scribe and Scribe Ambassador, I document emergency department care, train new scribes, review chart quality, and support clinical education. I am motivated by opportunities at the intersection of biomedical engineering, medical devices, clinical practice, and pediatric healthcare innovation.
Experience
Scribe Ambassador
Loma Linda University Health — ScribeAmericaAug 2026 – Present
I train new scribes in clinical documentation during floor-shadowing shifts, demonstrating accurate charting of histories and physicals, examinations, procedures, and medical decision-making. I conduct probationary chart reviews, monitor trainee progress and chart quality, and report findings to the Chief Scribe and Quality Assurance Associate. I also serve as a shift resource, identify training gaps, develop tailored training programs, and complete performance reports and rubrics.
Medical Scribe — Emergency Department
Loma Linda University HealthSep 2024 – Present
I document 30–40 patient charts per shift in the EPIC EMR, including histories of present illness, physical examinations, procedures, and medical decision-making. I observe emergency medicine workflows across trauma, critical care, neurological, pediatric, moderate-acuity, and low-acuity cases.
Entrepreneurship Fellow
INNOVAR Entrepreneurship Program, UC RiversideJun 2026 – Aug 2026
I developed a pediatric surgical medtech startup through a seven-week accelerator focused on transforming technology concepts into commercially viable solutions. I conducted customer discovery with pediatric neurosurgeons, congenital heart surgeons, and Johns Hopkins faculty, evaluated instrumentation and workflow gaps, and refined the venture from hydrocephalus treatment toward pediatric cardiothoracic surgery. I developed early-stage device concepts and commercial strategy at the intersection of pediatric surgery, biomedical engineering, and translational medicine.
Senior Design Project — Automated Multi-Axis OCT Imaging Stage
UC Riverside Department of BioengineeringSep 2025 – Jun 2026
I am designing an automated Optical Coherence Tomography imaging stage with XYZ translation and dual-axis tilt. I developed CAD models for mechanical assemblies, motor mounts, sample-positioning components, and system layout, while integrating stepper motor actuation, LabVIEW programming, and performance validation. I also contribute to torque analysis, component selection, prototype fabrication, and system-level testing.
ER Technician — Emergency Department
San Gorgonio Memorial HospitalMar 2025 – Oct 2025
I delivered direct patient care including EKG acquisition, wound care, splinting, specimen collection, patient transport, and vital-sign measurement. I assisted with CPR, code situations, trauma care, and emergency department patient flow.
Mentorship Program Director
COPE Club at UC RiversideJan 2025 – Jan 2026
I developed mentorship program materials, mentor-mentee matching systems, forms, and onboarding resources. I coordinated mentorship operations to support pre-health students pursuing clinical and academic opportunities.
Honors Capstone Thesis — Ultrasound Detection of Thrombosis in Aneurysm Phantoms
UC Riverside University Honors ProgramJan 2025 – Jan 2026
I investigated ultrasound-based approaches for detecting clot formation within PDMS aneurysm phantom models. I developed experimental methods for phantom fabrication, flow testing, and sonographic analysis, while exploring translational applications for monitoring flow-diverted aneurysms and thrombus development.
Undergraduate Researcher
Biomedical Microdevices Lab, UC RiversideOct 2024 – Jun 2026
I investigate thrombosis formation in flow-diverted aneurysm models using ultrasound imaging. I fabricate PDMS aneurysm phantoms, evaluate clot formation under controlled flow conditions, and conduct literature reviews on ultrasound-based clot detection, vascular phantom fabrication, and flow-diverter stent models. I am developing an Honors Capstone focused on non-invasive sonographic detection of thrombus formation.
Volunteer
Coachella Valley Free ClinicSep 2024 – Jun 2026
I support community health outreach and clinical service events for underserved patient populations. I assist with patient intake, clinic operations, and community-based health education efforts.
Orthopedic R&D Intern — SPUR Summer Internship
Billi Research Group, UC Los AngelesJun 2024 – Aug 2024
I designed multi-compartment capsules for on-syringe mixing to improve bedside drug preparation. I validated capsule performance through benchtop testing of mixing efficiency and leak resistance, and presented the results at the UCLA SPUR Research Symposium.
Project Lead
Mini Medical School, UC RiversideJan 2024 – Jan 2025
I assisted with student-led medical education programming and pre-health outreach initiatives.
Leadership Team Member
Chancellors Research Fellowship, UC RiversideJan 2024 – Jan 2025
I supported undergraduate research programming and mentorship for students involved in research and fellowship activities.
Events Coordinator
COPE Club at UC RiversideJan 2024 – Jan 2025
I coordinated student events, mentorship programming, and pre-health community engagement activities.
CUREL Ambassador
Center for Undergraduate Research & Engaged Learning, UCRJan 2024 – Jan 2026
I educate undergraduate students about research opportunities, fellowships, minigrants, and prestigious awards. I represent undergraduate research programs through presentations, outreach, and student advising.
Supplemental Instruction Leader
UC RiversideJan 2024 – Jun 2024
I led peer-learning sessions for CHEM 001A and BIOL 005A to support student understanding of course material. I developed review activities, guided problem-solving sessions, and supported student academic success.
ARC35 Instructor / Teaching Assistant
UC RiversideJun 2023 – Nov 2023
I supported student learning, academic transition, and peer mentorship for undergraduate students.
COPE Health Scholar
Riverside Community HospitalApr 2023 – Nov 2025
I completed more than 650 clinical hours across emergency, operating room, neonatal intensive care, medical intensive care, cardiac catheterization, and medical-surgical units. I assisted with vital signs, patient mobility, hygiene support, patient transport, and unit-based clinical operations.
Undergraduate Researcher
Pediatric Rehabilitation Technology Lab, UC RiversideDec 2022 – Jun 2025
I designed and fabricated anatomically informed infant upper-extremity physical models for soft wearable robotics testing. I used CAD software, 3D printing, silicone molding, and mechanical assembly to create age-specific pediatric models, then evaluated geometry, limb mass, and range of motion to support redesign of pediatric assistive technologies.
