Tulane University Innovation Institute

The Innovation Institute will add additional resources and support existing campus and community partners and priorities through funding, academic resources, and engagement to ensure new companies and technologies can launch, grow, remain, and thrive as they improve lives in New Orleans and throughout the world. This lnstitute's resources include proof of concept and pre-seed startup investment funds, as well as due diligence, development, and commercialization support from mentors and other business, scientific, and investment experts. Education: Mentorship & programming for innovators and entrepreneurs. Robert L. Priddy Innovation Lab: Our process for protecting ideas and determining if there's a market. Community: Partnering with community and industry to fuel the region. The Power of Innovation at Tulane Universities have launched programs with similar components and concepts; but the Tulane Innovation Institute is designed specifically for this university, in this city, at this time.

Mila Ventures

Mila Ventures is building the Venture Scientist platform: an integrated venture-creation engine designed to translate frontier AI research into world-class companies - rooted in Canada, built for the world. Mila Ventures operates within Mila, a prestigious AI research institute based in Montréal, founded by Yoshua Bengio, one of the godfathers of modern artificial intelligence and a pioneer of deep learning. The platform brings together: Mila Venture Studio (co-creating companies with professors, students, and entrepreneurs) Mila Accelerator (early company building and scaling) Venture Scientist Academy (training researchers to become venture builders) The Mila Venture Fund (in formation) We operate at the intersection of AI research, venture creation, and capital, working closely with Mila's globally renowned researchers, students, founders, investors, corporate partners, and public institutions.

Kapor Center

The Kapor Center is a family of three distinct organizations working under a shared mission to remove barriers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education, and tech careers, and tech entrepreneurship for underrepresented people of color. SMASH: A 501c(3) public charity which operates STEM education programs. Kapor Capital: A seed-stage investment fund. Kapor Foundation: A 501c(3) private operating foundation. The Kapor Center aims to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem through increasing access to tech and STEM education programs, conducting research on access and opportunity in computing, investing in community organizations and gap-closing social ventures, building diverse and inclusive companies, and increasing access to capital among diverse entrepreneurs. The three organizations are supported by a robust operations team - employed by a separate entity, Kapor Enterprises, Inc. (KEI)- , which provides finance, accounting, human resources, people operations, IT, events, legal, special initiatives, and other operational support. REBUILDING A MORE EQUITABLE TECH SECTOR, ECONOMY, AND SOCIETY From systemic racism and economic inequality to the growing role of tech in all aspects of our lives, we are in a historical moment that requires urgent, bold, and innovative solutions. The Kapor Center’s work focuses at the intersection of racial justice and technology, and we are doubling-down on our work to fight for racial justice and create a more inclusive technology sector. We understand that systems of inequality are at play–and we work to intentionally dismantle barriers to the creation and deployment of technologies across the Leaky Tech Pipeline through research-driven practices, programs, partnerships, and policies.

Since its genesis at the University of Oxford in 2015, Panacea Innovation has partnered with some of the world’s best sci-entrepreneurs, research bodies, universities and corporates to build more than 280 companies that offer cutting-edge solutions - curating a portfolio of more than GBP£300m in value. Panacea Innovation’s venturing activities are delivered through two complementary arms: Panacea Stars - a technology translation, commercialisation and R&D arm - and Panacea Ventures, the investment management one.

RightHill Ventures

Backed by a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, RightHill Ventures works in partnership with Brown, the University of Rhode Island, and other higher education institutions and their alumni to identify and fund the innovators who are developing solutions to some of the world's most challenging problems. Established by the Slater Technology Fund, a regional seed investor with deep roots in the Brown ecosystem, RightHill Ventures recruits key players from the national pool of industry and entrepreneurial talent – individuals from the broadest community – to prove our potential, build teams, and help us fuel them through early milestones. We believe that the power of university research, coupled with RightHill’s tight focus and the strength of the larger community, will result in bold launches powered by individualized investment syndicates. Leveraging Our Network of Partners Our deep ties to Brown and URI's scientific, engineering, and clinical faculty, as well as to all elements of their-and the region's-entrepreneurial ecosystem, allow us to identify the most promising innovations and connect them with the right resources to help them grow into successful companies.
