Senior Compliance Manager (Deputy Key Person)

Saint Helier, Jersey, JerseyFull-time2h ago

We're hiring: Senior Compliance Manager (Deputy Key Person) — VenCap, Jersey

Compliance at its best isn't about ticking boxes. It's about being the person the board trusts when a judgement call has to be made — and made properly.

That's the role we're recruiting at VenCap. We're a long-established investor in technology-focused venture capital funds, and our Jersey-regulated Fund Services Businesses operate under the supervision of the Jersey Financial Services Commission. We're looking for a Senior Compliance Manager to join us as Deputy Key Person — Deputy Compliance Officer, Deputy Money Laundering Compliance Officer and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer across the VenCap Group.

Why this one is worth a look

This is a genuine deputy Key Person appointment, not a support role with a grand title. You will step into the full responsibilities and authority of our Jersey Key Person whenever they are unavailable — advising the boards, acting as a day-to-day point of contact with the JFSC, keeping our policies and monitoring programme sharp, and making sure breaches, errors and near-misses are properly recorded, investigated and escalated.

You will report directly to Elise Mitchell, VenCap Jersey’s Head of Compliance and Regulatory Operations, with unimpeded access to the board and the independence the role requires. Venture capital is one of the most interesting corners of financial services to be a compliance professional in right now, and a small, high-calibre team means visible work and room to grow.

What we are looking for

  • At least three years' compliance experience in Jersey or another reputable financial-services jurisdiction, ideally within a fund services business.
  • Working knowledge of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998, the Proceeds of Crime (Jersey) Law 1999, the Money Laundering (Jersey) Order 2008, the FSB Code and the AML/CFT/CPF Handbook.
  • A compliance qualification — ICA or similar — held or actively being studied for; fully qualified preferred.
  • Confident written and oral communication: you will be presenting to boards and engaging directly with the JFSC.
  • Sound judgement, integrity and the personal authority to act independently of the business lines.
  • Jersey residency (the role is Jersey-based and is not an outsourced function).

How to apply

Please send your CV directly to Elise Mitchell. Elise is happy to have an informal, confidential conversation first if you would rather test the water before applying.

If you know someone who would be a strong fit, please do share this post.
