Veg Capital
Specialist private family fund investing at Angel, Seed and Series A in companies replacing animal-based foods with plant-based, recombinant or cultivated alternatives across the UK and Europe.
Veg Capital is a specialist private family fund that provides early-stage capital to companies working to replace the use of animals in the food system. Its focus is on businesses developing alternatives to conventional animal-based foods, principally plant-based companies producing substitutes for meat, dairy, eggs and seafood, alongside ventures built on recombinant protein and cultivated (cultured) ingredients.
The fund invests at Angel, Seed and Series A stage. Technical domains of interest include plant-based food technology, cultivated ingredients, recombinant protein ingredients and alternative protein development more broadly. Its stated thesis is that animal agriculture is inefficient and unsustainable and therefore open to innovation, and its portfolio approach is concentrated on food system substitution rather than food and beverage investing in general.
Veg Capital operates a mission-driven profit model: all profits generated by the fund are donated to effective UK and European charities working on farmed animal welfare, the environmental impact of animal agriculture, or the promotion of plant-based eating. The fund reports 100 per cent of profits donated under this structure.
Geographic presence is focused on the United Kingdom and Europe.
