Established in 2022, Valspring is a Boston-based growth equity firm founded by the former healthcare investment team of Bain Capital Ventures. With deep sector expertise and a proven track record, we invest in growth-stage companies in the healthcare industry, focusing on the information technology, technology-enabled services and services sectors. Potential investment sizes range from $20 - $40 million equity checks.

The Role
We are looking for an outstanding person to join our Boston-based team as an Associate. Associates play a critical role in multiple facets of the investment process, working directly with our Principals and Partners to inform Valspring’s investment and portfolio strategies.
Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, investing, banking, and/or healthcare technology operations and have strong academic records from top undergraduate programs. Candidates with prior experience in healthcare or a healthcare-related field and a demonstrated interest in the healthcare industry will be given preference. Exceptional candidates will be intellectually curious, self-driven and entrepreneurial, as well as exhibit exceptional analytical and relationship-building capabilities.
Associates are thought-leaders and executors, informing key decisions from thesis selection to post-investment value creation. Key components of the role include:
• Sourcing and thesis execution – Associates are crucial contributors to developing theses, meeting relevant companies, and identifying potential opportunities for investment. As a result, Associates are encouraged to become meaningful players in the healthcare entrepreneurial ecosystem, developing relationships with phenomenal entrepreneurs, industry stakeholders and other investors in the space.
• Investment diligence and deal execution – Associates have significant ownership in the deal evaluation and execution process. They work with Valspring leadership to develop investment theses, assess competitive and market dynamics, identify key risks and mitigants, and ultimately inform investment decisions and path to value creation. Associates play a critical and active role in team discussions and are a valued voice at the table.
• Portfolio company partnership and value creation – Valspring is dedicated to partnering with portfolio companies for the journey. Associates work closely with our companies following investment, with a focus on helping our founders with strategic planning, business development, customer relationships, operational needs and many other areas of value creation.
