Role Overview
SV Angel is hiring an AI Lead to define and execute its AI strategy across the investment team. This is a hands-on builder role: you'll set the roadmap and directly prototype, ship, and iterate on internal AI tools used daily by partners and staff. You'll work closely with the team in San Francisco to deeply understand investing workflows and identify where technology can create leverage.
What You'll Do
Develop the strategic vision for how SV Angel uses AI across sourcing, diligence, founder support, and internal operations.
Map investing workflows and translate them into practical AI tools and automations.
Design and build internal products using modern AI stacks (LLMs, retrieval/RAG, embeddings, structured data pipelines) to:
Discover founders and companies earlier.
Synthesize markets and themes quickly.
Capture and reuse institutional knowledge.
Own the full lifecycle of these tools, from prototype to production to iteration based on real usage.
Evaluate and integrate third-party AI products, determining when to buy vs. build.
Establish lightweight standards for prompts, data quality, and responsible AI use.
Background
LLM & Agentic Systems: Hands-on experience with modern LLM APIs and agentic frameworks.
Engineering: Solid software engineering fundamentals.
Data Architecture: Experience building pipelines across diverse internal and external data sources.
Cloud & Deployment: Hands-on experience deploying scalable AI systems.
Venture Capital/Finance: Candidates with a background or interest in VC/Finance are a plus but not required.

Relevant Background: Experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Venture Capital, Product, or startups. Advanced technical degrees (Master's or PhD) are welcome.
