Position Overview
The Associate of StepStone Investor Servicing in Charlotte will support the investor onboarding into StepStone’s investment vehicles and will be responsible for investor communications and coordination with functional teams involved in the onboarding process. The individual may also support institutional business development efforts in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Investor & SMA Onboarding Execution
- Own the full lifecycle of investor onboarding, serving as the primary point of contact for investors from initiation through close.
- Set up and maintain investor, entity, and account records across internal systems and approved digital subscription platforms.
- Guide investors through subscription documentation, investor questionnaires, tax documentation, and all AML/KYC requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Legal, Compliance, Fund Administration, Business Development, and external vendors to drive timely approvals and issue resolution.
- Proactively track onboarding progress, manage open items, and escalate risks or delays that could impact funding timelines.
- Host and lead launch call series with key stakeholders to discuss notable status updates, flag at-risk items, and dependency areas.
- Handle complex investor structures, jurisdictional nuances, and heightened AML/KYC cases with confidence and ownership.
- Establish and manage SLAs across internal / external providers, ensuring all closes are met on time.
- Manage status updates across each phase of the onboarding life cycle (e.g., Ideation, Structing, Pre-Signing, Closing, Investing).
Technology, Platforms & Data Management
- Manage and oversee onboarding workflows using digital subscription and onboarding platforms such as Anduin, SUBSCRIBE, Goji, or similar technologies.
- Ensure data integrity, completeness, and consistency across onboarding platforms, CRM systems, and downstream operational systems.
- Partner with internal teams and vendors on system enhancements, integrations, data mapping, and workflow improvements related to SMA onboarding.
- Maintain trackers, dashboards, and reporting related to SMA onboarding status and operational metrics.
- Provide a white glove client experience with internal stakeholders and investors, by offering platform walk-throughs for a seamless onboarding process.
Process Improvement & AI Enablement
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and risks within onboarding workflows and implement scalable process improvements.
- Leverage automation, data tools, and AI-enabled solutions to reduce manual touchpoints and improve speed, accuracy, and investor experience.
- Contribute to documentation of onboarding procedures, controls, and best practices to support team scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Business Development and Client Relationship teams to ensure clarity of roles, ownership, and investor communications.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Fund Accounting to align onboarding requirements with fund structures, timing, and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate effectively with external administrators, AML/KYC providers, and outside counsel.
- Keep in close coordination with respective Fund Onboarding leads (across impacted asset classes) on SMA OB status.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-7+ years of direct, hands-on experiencein investor onboarding for an alternative investment manager.
- Experience onboarding investors into funds with private equity, venture capital, real estate, private debt, and/or infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience using digital subscription and onboarding platformssuch as Anduin, SUBSCRIBE, Goji, or comparable systems.
- Strong working knowledge of subscription documentation, investor questionnaires, AML/KYC requirements, and global jurisdictional considerations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex onboarding processes concurrently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Track record of process improvement, with experience leveraging technology, automation, and AI to enhance operational efficiency.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership.

- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work cross functionally to manage projects from start to finish
- Operates independently at the Associate level with the confidence to quarterback end to end onboarding processes
- Acute attention to accuracy and detail
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize multiple in-process deliverables at the same time
- Robust understanding of the private equity market and StepStone’s offerings within the market
- Effective communication skills and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize activities while working on multiple projects and achieve target deadlines
- Motivated to build scalable future state onboarding processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
